New York Man Arrested After Pushing a Woman Into a Subway Car in Incident Caught on Video

A serial offender on the New York subway system has been arrested once again on suspicion of shoving a woman onto a train in Brooklyn.

Isaiah Thompson, 28, was arrested in connection with an incident at the DeKalb Avenue subway station on October 23, which was captured on video.

The footage shows the suspect pushing a woman headfirst into the train as well as confronting several other commuters on the platform.

The video was widely shared online, prompting an investigation by the NYPD Transit division. It is not clear what charges Thompson faces following his arrest.

"We are still seeking the public's assistance locating victims and witnesses critical to the ongoing investigation," NYPD Transit said in a statement. "Thompson is among our most persistent transit offenders and must be fully prosecuted."

As reported by the New York Post, Thompson has been arrested at least 17 times for subway-related offenses. He is also accused of causing more than 700 delays on the subway by repeatedly pulling on the train's emergency brakes.

Last July, Thompson went viral after a video of him clinging onto the outside of a train while it sped through Brooklyn was shared on social media.

In November 2018, Thompson was accused of grabbing a woman by the throat on the platform of the Halsey Street J train station and attempting to throw her to the ground. He was also arrested in May on suspicion of first-degree criminal tampering, reckless endangerment and public lewdness after allegedly pulling the brakes on a train in Manhattan, and exposing himself in a separate incident.

According to court documents, seen by the New York Daily News, Thompson said he exposed himself because he "wanted the attention."

"I did it to mess with transit and for the fun of it," he said. "I do this alone. I've been going on tracks and surfing for about a year and a half. I've been pulling the brakes for two months."

"Enough is enough," NYC Transit President Andy Byford said in a statement following the latest incident involving Thompson.

"This individual is a criminal and it's unacceptable that he be allowed to continue to create mayhem on the subways, mayhem he admits is deliberate, that puts riders' and MTA employees' lives at risk. He should be banned from the system—period."

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has repeatedly said they are unable to enforce such a ban, reports the New York Daily News.
