Pastor Claims God Suddenly Stopped Winter for Him Because He Hates the Cold

A Nigerian pastor has gone viral on social media this week after sharing his claim that God changed the weather for him over his distaste for colder temperatures.

Several social media users recently shared a video of Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, telling a story in which he requested that God "suspend" winter while he traveled to the state of Colorado.

"Years ago, I was invited to Colorado, in America, in January," Adeboye said in the footage. "I don't like cold weather, I don't like it at all. That's why God made me in Nigeria. I don't like cold weather at all.

"I had to go to this meeting, it was very important, so I said to my father, 'I'm going to Colorado while I am there, suspend winter.' I have a witness here today. Throughout the days I was there, people were wearing t-shirts in January. He pushed away the winter, brought in summer."

Near the end of the clip, Adeboye says that two hours after he left Colorado, all the snow began to fall, adding: "There is a God."

While it's unclear exactly when the speech was made by Adeboye, many social media users have shared the video on X, formerly Twitter, with some offering their opinions on the story.

"This testimony from Pastor Adeboye has gotten a lot of people talking," X user YabaLeftOnline wrote, sharing the video.

The Daily Post Nigeria reported that Samuel Oguachuba, a popular record producer in Nigeria, responded to the remarks by Adeboye saying: "OJA ti burst o! Which Colorado? Ye! Dem don catch Baba Adeboye red handed for This one no be only me go hear am. When u think you have heard it all."

The GistReel X account shared a screenshot of Nigerian radio host, DaddyFreeze commenting on the video of Adeboye saying "this is not the Gospel Nigeria needs to hear in 2023...But this is quite hilarious though."

On the other hand, some social media users reacted with support for Adeboye and his claims.

"There's a reason why it's called a Miracle. It's not supposed to make sense to everybody," X user @oyin_debby wrote.

X user @deejayfaremi said: "What he said is perfectly reasonable. There are warmer winter days and colder summer days. You can question whether it is due to his prayers or not. But that's what he believes. A lot of people say silly things in the name of religion. However this isn't one of those instances."

According to the National Weather Service, from 1991 to 2020, the average temperature in Colorado for the month of January is 31.7 degrees Fahrenheit and the average January snowfall is listed at 6.4 inches.

Newsweek reached out to Adeboye and the Redeemed Christian Church via email for comment.
