Nikki Haley's U.N. Team Photo Mocked on Twitter for Lack of Racial Diversity

Social media mocked Nikki Haley lacking racial diversity in her team after the U.N Ambassador shared a group photo of her colleagues to Twitter last night.

On Monday, Haley—who represented the U.S. in the United Nations for two years before resigning in October—shared a group photo of her team on the eve of her last security council meeting. "I have such love for these people. Friendships that I will always cherish. (Missing Tyler) Forever Team Haley," she wrote.

After the post went live, social media users began ridiculing the image, pointing out that most of the people in the photo were white, apart from Haley, who was born Nimrata Randhawa to an Indian American Sikh family in South Carolina.

"Nikki Haley's team is half women which is far better than Trump's cabinet but can you tell how many people of color work on her team?" Jamil Dakwar, the director of the American Civil Liberties Union's Human Rights Program, wrote, alongside a retweet of Haley's post.

"Can't help but notice you're the only person of color on your team," wrote another tweeter.

"In other words....'Team Diversity,'" said the text of one reply.

One user simply tweeted an image of the word "White People" which featured a blond woman dancing and clapping in the background.

"Haley's what, 1/3 of the racial diversity?" another user tweeted.

American comedian Kathy Griffin also pointed out the lack of racial diversity in Haley's team.

In October, Trump announced that Haley had resigned from her post and will leave the U.N. at the end of 2018. "She's done a fantastic job and we've done a fantastic job together. We've solved a lot of problems and we're in the process of solving a lot of problems," Trump said.

"She told me probably six months ago, 'You know maybe at end of the year, at the end of the two year period, but by the end of the year I want to take a little time off, I want to take a break," he added.

Trump has nominated former Fox News host Heather Nauert to take over as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations in 2019—an appointment pending approval by the Senate. The position, however, will be downgraded to a non-cabinet position.

"She's very talented, very smart, very quick, and I think she's going to be respected by all," Trump said of Nauert earlier this month.
