A Nose for Rehab Comedy: Artie Lange Tweets Photo of Deformed Nose on Christmas Day

Stand-up comedian Artie Lange, 51, posted a photo on Twitter of his "hideously deformed" nose on Christmas day, perhaps as a warning to youngsters to not do drugs.

He has since had his nose fixed, as in the before-and-after photos NJ.com posted.

The comedian, 10 days sober at the time of his tweet, reportedly had surgery on his nose due to three decades of drug use, specifically snorting cocaine and heroin, NJ.Com reported. In one incident, he allegedly accidentally snorted glass when trying to suck up smashed OxyContin tablets, destroying the septum in his nose.

"This is it but I believe her nose had a septum and had not been hideously deformed due to over 3 decades of drug abuse," Lange posted on Twitter on Christmas day, referring to French actress Sophie Marceau and the face she made in response to his appearance when he bid her good morning.

In keeping with the good cheer of the holidays, some of his 364,000 Twitter followers seemed to keep it light.

Mel Frost @mfron14 responded, "Come on, it's not even noticeable."

Alan Ford @drofnala wrote: You and Keith Richards continue to defy modern medical science."

He shared the photo after shocking images of his court appearance in New Jersey concerned his fans who most likely followed him during his time on the Howard Stern Show when he worked there, reported Yahoo.

Lange previously revealed on Twitter that he would attend "a very strict rehab type program called Drug Court."

Earlier, he had tested positive for multiple drug use, including cocaine, while serving a four-year probation for heroin possession.

Reportedly, friends and others on social media have teased him mercilessly about his appearance. A self-described "junkie comedian," Lange appears to be very open about his drug use and rehabilitation experiences on social media.

Yet he said he is now clean and did not test positive for heroin in the Yahoo report. In his tweet, he claims he uses a medication called Suboxen that has helped him test negative for heroin after 41 days.

"That's a prison that for now I'm out of," he tweeted. "It's also the reason I'm not in jail. The judge and Prosecutor were unbelievably compassionate. I'm not high. So I see it clearly now. They wanna save my life. 10 days ago when I left rehab I had to touch the flame. I used Cocaine …"

Lange is best known as a former writer for Howard Stern on Demand (2006 to 2012), a cast member on MadTV (1995 to 2009) and most recently he plays several roles in Crashing, a TV series on HBO (2017-2018).

He also made two appearances on The Jim Gaffigan Show (2015-2016), among other comedic gigs.

Lange goes by the Twitter handle @artiequitter. Perhaps he can turn some of the clever responses to his deformed nose into material for his stand-up routine.
