Complete Oscars 2023 Nominees List—The Biggest Snubs and Surprises

It's that time of year where the public learn which of the best and brightest stars of the movie industry will be shortlist at the Oscars.

The 95th Academy Awards is set to be held on March 12, 2023 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, and the nominations were revealed on Tuesday, January 24.

Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams revealed which actors, films and music were set to be celebrated at the event during a live announcement, which was shared on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and Metaverse's Horizon Worlds.

Here is everything that viewers will need to know about the nominations, as well as what the biggest snubs and surprises were at the 2023 Oscars.

The 2023 edition of the Oscars will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, which marks his third time hosting the event after doing so in 2017 and 2018.

Everything Everywhere All At Once dominated the nominations with 11 nods, The Banshees of Inisherin earned nine nominations including Best Picture, and Best Actor nods for Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Barry Keoghan and Kerry Condon in the Leading and Supporting Actor/Actress categories.

All Quiet on the Western Front also proved to be a frontrunner in the Oscars 2023 race, as it earned nine nominations including Best Picture and Best International Film.

One big surprise in the nominations included Paul Mescal, who was shortlisted in the Best Actor in a Leading Role category for his performance in Aftersun. He is nominated alongside awards show favorites Farrell, Brendan Fraser, Austin Butler, and Bill Nighy.

The Best Picture nominees saw Everything Everywhere All At Once, All Quiet on the Western Front, Avatar: The Way of Water, Elvis, The Fabelmans, Tár, Top Gun: Maverick, Triangle of Sadness, andWomen Talking get shortlisted.

Angela Bassett became the first actor from a Marvel film to receive an Oscar nomination for their performance in one of the superhero franchise's productions, she received a nod for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Previously Black Panther was nominated for Best Picture in 2019 where the film also won Best Original Score, Best Achievement in Costume Design and Production Design.

A surprise in the Oscars 2023 nominations was Andrea Riseborough who was shortlisted in the Best Actress in a Leading Role category for her performance in To Leslie.

After being snubbed at the Golden Globes, Stephanie Hsu received a nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role category for Everything Everywhere All At Once alongside Jamie Lee Curtis.

The Best Director category consisted of entirely male nominees, with Martin McDonagh, Daniel Kwan, Daniel Scheinert, Steven Spielberg, Todd Field, and Ruben Ostlund getting nominated for The Banshees of Inisherin, Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Fabelmans, Tár, and Triangle of Sadness, respectively.

Sarah Polley's Women Talking failed to earn a Best Directing nod at the Oscars, but it was nominated for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.

RRR was not nominated in the Best International Film category, but the film did receive a nod for "Naatu Naatu" by M.M. Keeravaani and Chandrabose.

All Quiet on the Western Front, Argentina, 1985, Close, EO, and The Quiet Girl were nominated in the Best International Film category instead.
