The wait is finally over, we know who the nominees are for the 96th annual Academy Awards. Well, those answers lie below. Scroll on.

Actors Zazie Beetz and Jack Quaid announced the nominees in a livestream early Tuesday morning. Let's break down the nominees and some of the surprises...

- And right out of the gate, the very first nominee was a surprise. As they announced Best Supporting Actor, the first name announced was Sterling K. Brown for American Fiction, who had been considered a long shot nominee. The other surprise here is the lack of a nomination for May December's Charles Melton, who had been considered a likely nominee.

- One name mentioned in the Best Supporting Actress category shocked the crowd in attendance: America Ferrera for Barbie, who like Brown, had been considered a long shot nominee. Surprising names not mentioned were May December's Julieanne Moore and Penelope Cruz for Ferrari.

- Colman Domingo being nominated for Best Actor for Rustin was great news, but somewhat of a surprise. Not nominated for Best Actor? Leonardo DiCaprio for Killers of the Flower Moon.

- Probably the most shocking news out of all of the nominees is the lack of a nomination for Margot Robbie for Barbie. The film got a ton of nominations, but how do you not nominate the actual Barbie?! I'm furious. A surprise nominee in the category is Annette Bening for Nyad.

- Another shocker name not mentioned, Barbie's director Greta Gerwig for Best Director. This is just a bummer.

The 96th annual Academy Awards will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and will air live on ABC on Sunday, March 10th.
