Owner Can't Believe She Captured 'Sweetest Thing' Between Cats on Camera

A pet owner has accidentally recorded the sweetest moment between her two cats while trying to record them bird-watching by the window.

In the heartwarming video shared on TikTok earlier in April, under the username @dashandpearl, her pair of felines can be seen observing birds through the glass. Out of nowhere, the boy cat, Dash, places his paw on the back of his sister's back, while they both stare at the birds in awe.

A caption reads: "I was recording my cats bird watching and accidentally captured the sweetest moment. The way he's holding her. Rare footage of dash being a great big brother to pearl."

If you're a cat owner, you have probably noticed how much your pet loves looking at birds, but what is the cause of this behavior?

The plain and simple reason behind cats' passion for bird-watching lies within their hunting instincts, which all felines are born with, no matter their breed, temperament or age.

The cat-food database site Catological says that most felines adore watching small animals like birds or mice because of the instincts they inherited from their ancestors, even though they themselves are fully fed and don't need prey to survive.

"Whenever they spot a possible prey, they become predators, whether it's just for playtime or for survival. Even if your pet is completely stiff and isn't stalking the bird by walking around the window or the TV, it could still be thinking about hunting it," the website adds.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 1.3 million views and more than 267,000 likes on the platform.

One user, manny, posted: "I have 3 cats and know them well...he was using her as leverage." And Naidalyn655 wrote: "When my cat looks at birds he does this weird sound its like not even a meow idk [I don't know]."

Glaan81 added: "Just want to climb on top of the other to be the first getting the bird."

Newsweek reached out to @dashandpearl for comment via TikTok chat. We could not verify the details of the case.
