Photo of Patrick Mahomes, Wife Brittany in High School Goes Viral

A throwback image of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes posing with now-wife Brittany Mahomes when they were high school students has gone viral on social media.

Years before Patrick Mahomes would become a first-round pick for the Chiefs during the NFL Draft in 2017, he first met his wife-to-be when they were in high school in Whitehouse, Texas.

The Mahomes, who are both 28, had much in common through their passion for sports. Patrick Mahomes was a star athlete at Whitehouse High School, where he excelled in both football and baseball, while Brittany Mahomes played soccer.

They began dating during their sophomore year. One of his earliest Instagram posts was of the young couple attending prom in 2013.

Sharing a glimpse into their time together as high school sweethearts, an X, formerly Twitter, user this week posted a screenshot of a TikTok video that showed the future married couple posing together as teens.

In the image, a smiling Brittany Mahomes is seen wearing pink as she stands behind her beau and playfully squeezes his cheeks. A more straight-faced Patrick Mahomes is seen wearing a pink T-shirt under his burgundy football jersey.

The TikTok post that the image was taken from was shared in November 2023.

The photo, which has been viewed more than 1.5 million times on X, attracted a wave of comments from the platform's users, including one who wrote: "That's a cute picture. It's nice they go back that far."

"Imagine going to school with them and then seeing how famous they are now," another commented. "Probably wish you were their friends lol."

"They have been together for so long," another said, while a host of other X users called the image "adorable."

"She secured the bag in high school," another stated of Brittany Mahomes.

Several other X users commented that in the image, Brittany Mahomes resembled Sharpay Evans, the character played by Ashley Tisdale in High School Musical.

Noting that Brittany Mahomes' look was a reflection of the times, one social media user chimed in: "Everybody saying she looks like Sharpay, that was literally the style then we all looked like Sharpay."

Following the couple's high school prom, Brittany Mahomes stayed nearby when she left home for college in 2013, playing soccer at the University of Texas at Tyler. Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes was recruited to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, nearly 440 miles away, in 2014 on a football and baseball scholarship.

Despite the distance, their relationship remained strong and continued to flourish even when Patrick Mahomes uprooted to Missouri following the draft in 2017. Brittany Mahomes, who graduated with a kinesiology degree that same year, went to play professional soccer in Iceland after signing for UMF Afturelding.

She has since retired from soccer and went on to work as a personal trainer through her own company, Brittany Lynne Fitness. She credited her time in Iceland with inspiring her to make health and wellness a profession. She is also co-owner of the National Women's Soccer League team Kansas City Current.

Brittany Mahomes and her athlete husband tied the knot on March 12, 2022. The couple welcomed their daughter, Sterling Skye, on February 20, 2021. Their son, Patrick "Bronze" Lavon Mahomes III, was born on November 28, 2022.

Coming a long way from her high school days, Brittany Mahomes is now regularly seen cheering on her husband from suites alongside pop icon Taylor Swift, who last year embarked on a high-profile romance with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
