Patrick Mahomes' Dad Called Out Over Super Bowl Photo

Sports fans are poking fun at Patrick Mahomes' dad following an unfortunate Super Bowl photo.

Following the Kansas City Chiefs's 25-22 victory over the San Francisco 49ers at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sunday, Patrick's mom, Randi Martin, posted a family picture to Instagram.

Quarterback Patrick stands in the center of the group shot, holding his daughter, 2-year-old Sterling Skye Mahomes. His younger brother, Jackson Mahomes, stands to his right, along with Randi and her teenage daughter Mia Randall.

Patrick's wife, entrepreneur Brittany Mahomes, is on his left, holding their 14-month-old son Patrick "Bronze" Mahomes. Behind Brittany is Patrick's dad, former baseball pitcher Patrick Mahomes Sr.

While the rest of the family is smiling in the celebratory snap, Patrick Mahomes Sr. looks seriously unamused. The 53-year-old just stared blankly at the camera, with the image leaving followers in stitches. Newsweek has reached out to Randi Martin and Patrick Mahomes Sr. for comment via Instagram.

"Pop wasn't in a good mood," commented Steve Lawson.

"His dad looks miserable," posted Lori.

"Sr looks thrilled," wrote Chase, while Osiris joked: "Patrick Senior just ready to go [the f***] home lol [laugh out loud]."

Other users praised Randi and Patrick Mahomes Sr. for staying on such good terms following their divorce. The event planner and MLB star wed in the 1990s, before splitting in 2006.

However, the former couple regularly cheer on their son together during Chiefs' games.

"I'm happy to see Pat senior there," Amber DeTomasi commented on Randi's post.

"Both of his parents are in a lot of their family photos. It is very nice to see," posted @okiedokie4175.

"So glad y'all were able to be there to support Pat and the rest of the guys!!!" wrote Angie.

Ahead of Sunday's big game, Randi shared what it was like to raise the NFL star.

"Patrick is my first child, and I grew up with him basically," she told People. "I had him at a young age, and I don't go out saying that's the best thing to do, but it was the best thing for me just because it made me grow up."

Randi said she felt lost before Patrick was born in 1995, crediting her son with giving her life direction.

"I had someone that needed me," Randi said. "And so, for forever, he was my little best friend. We were together 24/7, and I learned with him."

Randi became a grandma in February 2021, with the event planner also close to her daughter-in-law, former soccer star Brittany Matthews in 2022.

Although the Chiefs' won the Super Bowl, it's not all good news for the Mahomes family.

Patrick Mahomes Sr. was arrested in his native Texas on February 3, reportedly for driving while intoxicated. This is the third time the retired sports star has been charged with a DUI, and could face up to 10 years in jail if convicted.
