Patrick Mahomes Joining ESPN's ManningCast After Failed 'Audition' For Show

Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes will join Peyton and Eli Manning on the ManningCast of Monday night's game between the Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills.

And Mahomes may have some unfinished business with the Manning brothers.

Or at least, he could have a few jokes at the ready. The two-time Super Bowl champion was among the many current and former NFL players, coaches, and celebrities—including Tom Brady and Mike Tyson—who "auditioned" for a role on the ManningCast over the summer. But, in a video shared by Peyton Manning's production company, Mahomes didn't get a fair shot.

"I need to talk to Peyton. I need to know what time I need to be there for my ManningCast audition," Mahomes said in a skit posted by Omaha Productions. The video then shows Peyton receiving a "spam risk" call from Mahomes before Eli tells his older brother to decline the call.

"Seriously?" Mahomes said. "He sent me straight to voicemail? Like I need this job."

The Chiefs (7-2) are coming off of their bye week, which was highlighted by tight end Travis Kelce attending a Taylor Swift concert in Argentina. Mahomes, Kelce, and company will play on Monday Night Football next week in a Super Bowl rematch with the Philadelphia Eagles (8-1), who are also coming off a bye. The ManningCast will also be on the call for that game.

This won't be the first time Mahomes has joined the ManningCast. And the five-time Pro Bowler and two-time MVP was also featured on Netflix's Quarterback documentary series, which Omaha Productions also produced.

Newsweek reached out to Omaha Productions via email on Monday for comment.

How to Watch Mahomes on ManningCast

This week's Monday Night Football matchup between the Broncos (3-5) and Bills (5-4) is scheduled to kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET. The traditional broadcast will air on ESPN with Joe Buck (play-by-play) and Troy Aikman (analyst) on the call. The ManningCast, an alternative viewing experience that features commentary from Peyton and Eli, can be found on ESPN2.

After Week 10's game wraps up, there will be four more ManningCast broadcasts this season:

Week 11: Eagles at Chiefs (ESPN2, ESPN+)
Week 13: Bengals at Jaguars (ESPN2)
Week 15: Chiefs at Patriots (ESPN2)
Wild Card Weekend: TBD (ESPN2, ESPN+)

Lindsey Vonn Among Other Week 10 Guests

A guest on last week's ManningCast, Arnold Schwarzenegger, went viral for feeding his donkey during the broadcast. Other big names will be on TV screens this time around.

Mahomes is the Week 10 headliner. But former World Cup alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn and Good Morning Football host Kyle Brandt will also be featured on the broadcast. They join a wide-ranging list of guests on the ManningCast this season, from Will Ferrell to Aaron Rodgers.
