Paul Pogba is expected to miss Manchester United's English Premier League game against Middlesbrough on Sunday, after the France midfielder picked up a hamstring injury against FC Rostov in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening.

Pogba, 23, pulled up in the second half of United's 1-0 win at Old Trafford that took it through to the Europa League quarterfinals.

"I don't know for sure, but for sure, no Middlesbrough and no national team," Mourinho said when asked about the severity of Pogba's injury.

Pogba is the world's most-expensive player, at £89.3 million, though he has faced criticism this season from pundits over a perceived failure to perform to that valuation. He was defended staunchly by Mourinho before the victory over Rostov, with the Portuguese manager accusing his critics of "envy."

France has a FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg on March 25, followed by a friendly against Spain on March 28.
