The internet is going crazy over an irresistibly cute crossbreed dog called Toffee.
A black and brown puppy, she has taken social media by storm for her unusual and super cute mix—dachshund and corgi.
Owner cameanor on Reddit shared several pictures of his beloved pet, garnering thousands of upvotes.
Alongside the picture, Toffee's owner wrote: "Meet my Dorgi (dachshund x corgi)."
The hybrid breed actually has royal roots, originating when one of Queen Elizabeth II's corgis mated with a dachshund belonging to Princess Margaret.
While they're not recognized as a breed by any major kennel club, they are well known for having inherited some of the best qualities from both parent breeds, including loyalty, friendliness and intelligence.
They are slightly smaller than standard corgis—perhaps a reason that Queen Elizabeth II named her first hybird breed "Tiny." Over the years, the queen had at least 10 dorgis, including Brandy, Chipper, Harris, Pickles, Piper and Candy.
Although it isn't all positive when it comes to the dorgi—they are also naturally more prone to the health conditions that impact breeds like the corgi and dachshund. These include Patella luxation—a condition that causes easily dislocated kneecaps, hip displasia—a developmental condition where the hip joint doesn't fit properly, or Legg–Calvé–Perthes disease, another hip condition that can cause pain and trouble moving around.
Toffee is far from the first cross breed to capture worldwide attention on the internet. Animal lovers are often amazed by unusual breed mixes like the husky and corgi or Siberian husky and pit bull.
Just over 51 percent of American animal owners have mixed-breed dogs, meaning they are actually more popular than purebred in the U.S., according to a 2023 study.
A 2017 study found that some people perceive mixed-breed dogs to have advantages over their purebred counterparts thanks to improved health and lower susceptibility to diseases.
In fact, reports show that as many as 25 percent of the dogs currently in shelters are purebred.
On Reddit, people have become obsessed with Toffee, sharing their love for the unusual crossbreed in the comments.
"Awww he's aDorgible," said LiquidC001." While Twistedwhispers3 said: "What a beautiful combination."
WavyHairedGeek said: "OMG this pupper is sheer perfection."
"Awww. what a sweet face," gushed another Redditor.
