Pet Owner Working From Home Finds Out What Cat and Dog Get Up to Each Day

A pet owner has shared footage of the adorable "shenanigans" his cat and dog get up to while he's trying to work from home.

It is often incorrectly assumed that cats and dogs will struggle to coexist within the same household, but there is ample evidence to suggest otherwise.

In a 2020 study published in the journal PLOS ONE, 1,270 pet owners with both a cat and dog were quizzed on their pets' daily habits. The majority of those polled said their cats and dogs not only were able to coexist but actually enjoyed each other's company. The study found that over 64 percent of the cats and dogs living together also played together, while 20.8 percent even ate alongside one another.

One cat and dog pairing that appear to be coexisting quite happily are Sunny the Maltese and her rescue cat roommate Max, who live with their owner out in New Jersey.

Sunny came into her owner's life as a 5-month-old pup. Four years later, Max was adopted, with the two pets quickly striking up a friendship largely built around a shared appreciation of playtime.

The adorable bond between the pair is the main focus of @max_and_sunny, a pair of TikTok and Instagram accounts that chronicle their daily adventures together.

If there is one thing Max and Sunny love more than anything, it's play-fighting with each other. Judging from their social-media output, rarely a day goes by in which the pair are not excitedly cavorting around each other within the confines of their owner's home.

However, while that might make for adorable pet content, it's not all that helpful to be around if you happen to be their owner working from home on that particular day.

Proof of that comes courtesy of one clip that has already racked up almost half-a-million views. It is captioned: "This is how I know they are up to shenanigans when I am working."

In the footage, Sunny can be seen snooping around the corridor when, suddenly, she stops dead still around one corner, evidently anticipating that her feline friend is coming around the corner.

She's right, too, with Max appearing soon after, the two pets exchange playful swipes at each other before the rescue cat makes a swift exit with the dog hot on his heels.

Seconds later, Sunny is back, only this time the roles have reversed, with Max now the one giving chase. It's hilarious and adorable in equal measure, but you have to wonder how their owner gets anything done with all this cuteness going on around the house.

That sentiment was echoed by many of those watching and commenting on TikTok.

"I would accomplish nothing with them around because I'd be watching and laughing," one user commented, with another agreeing: "the joys of WFH [work from home]."

Everyone agreed, though, that the whole thing was undeniably sweet. "I watched this so many times," one viewer wrote. "They make me smile."

A second user commented, "BEST ENTERTAINMENT IN THE WORLD!!! Beautiful fur babies!!" with a third adding: "they are so happy."

Elsewhere, one viewer asked: "It's like a cartoon come to life. do they play like that a lot?" Max and Sunny's owner replied: "yes, everyday."

It might not be conducive to work, but you get the sense it's not something their owner is planning on curtailing anytime soon.
