'Plants vs Zombies 2' Update Brings PVP Mode

A new update coming to Plants vs Zombies 2 allows players to face one another in a new PVP game mode. Simply called "Battlez" the update gives players a chance to fight other players head-to-head.

Battlez lets players compete in asynchronous matches where they must wipe out waves of zombies in an effort to outscore their opponents. Points are determined by where zombies are destroyed. Zombies that are farthest away from the player's house will earn the most points, so the goal is to destroy them as quickly as possible.. Banners on the bottom of the field indicate how many points you'll receive for each kill.

More information about the new Battlez mode from the developers of Plants vs Zombies 2 can be seen in the video above.

Weekly in-game tournaments will also give players a chance to compete and climb the leaderboards against tougher competitors to win in-game prizes. Players earn crowns for each win, determining their overall rank. Special items and rewards will also be given to players if they go on a winning streak.

At the start of each match, players will have a chance to plan out their attack before the waves of zombies arrive. It should be noted that the lawn mowers that take down zombies won't earn any points for the player and a match doesn't end if a zombie reaches the house. Everything is timed and only when the timer reaches zero will points be tallied.

Plants vs Zombies 2 is available to download for free on Android and iOS.
