'Pokémon Go' Update: Lugia Returns with Improved Sky Attack

After one Pokémon Go event ends another begins! Following the Rayquaza windy event, Pokémon Go will bring back the Legendary Pokémon, Lugia, in Raid Battles. But there's a twist this time around.

From March 16 to April 2, Pokémon Go players will have another chance to catch Lugia in a Raid Battle. But the Lugia that appear during this new event won't be like the ones that were available alongside Zapdos, Articuno and Moltres back in 2017. According to the official Pokémon Go site, the Lugia in this new event "will know the newly improved Flying-type move Sky Attack."

Currently, Sky Attack in Pokémon Go does 70 damage and requires two energies to unleash. The first batch of Lugia already know this move, but perhaps the latest batch will have their Sky Attack do more damage or only require one energy. It's not clear if just these Lugia will have the new and improved Sky Attack. or if the move will be rebalanced within the game. We'll update the story when more information is available.

If you want to use the time before the new Lugia event to release to get your team together, take a look at some of the best counters for the Legendary Pokémon.

LUGIA COUNTERS

Lugia is a Psychic and Flying-type Pokémon, so there are plenty of options available in Pokémon Go to take it down. Some of the best choices are Tyranitar (Crunch or Stone Edge), Raikou with Wild Charge, Mewtwo with Shadow Ball and Zapdos with Thunderbolt.

If you're looking for non-Legendary options, Golem, Omastar, Absol and Jolteon are good counters. With the addition of the Hoenn Region, trainers may want to try out Aggron and Walrein.
