Police Plead for Help Finding Burglar Wearing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Head

Authorities in Colorado were searching for a suspect wearing a festive "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" mask who was caught stealing from a local business.

Fort Collins Police announced they were looking for the female suspect they nicknamed "Burglarudolph." The police department posted surveillance video of the holiday thief to the tune of the Christmas classic "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" on Facebook on Sunday.

Police asked residents to help them find "Rudolph the Red Nosed Burglar," who broke into a business in the 300 block of Hickory Street on December 18, and "stole several items."

The thief wore a giant cartoon reindeer head, which she briefly took off, revealing her face. The suspect was seen looking through what appeared to be a break room area as she struggled to open a tote bag and hold a flashlight.

Fort Collins Police appealed to the public for help by rewriting the lyrics to "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer."

"Rudolph the Red Nosed Burglar, Had a very shady scheme, And if you saw the video, If would want to make you scream," police wrote. "All of the other burglars, Used to steal without disguise, They weren't like this Rudolph, She's different from the other guys."

The parody song continued, "Oh how the camera caught her, As she committed burglary, Rudolph the Red Nosed Criminal, We need your help with her I.D."

The police department added: "All kidding aside, in the early morning hours of December 18, someone actually broke into a business in the 300 block of Hickory Street and stole several items… while attempting to disguise herself as one of Santa's helpers. If you have any info about this incident or know the suspect's identity, let us know so we can notify St. Nick."

Since it was posted on Sunday, the video has been viewed 6,000 times.

One of the businesses listed with an address of 300 Hickory Street in Fort Collins sells animal feed, The Denver Post reported.

Anyone with information about the burglary or the suspect's identity is urged to call Fort Collins Police Officer Treutler at 970-221-6555, or the Larimer County Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868.
