Powerball Drawing Tonight: $825M Jackpot Would Make Winner Richer Than Bono

A Powerball jackpot of $825 million is expected for Saturday night's drawing, the largest prize awarded by the lottery game this year.

Strong ticket sales across the country have driven the growth of the jackpot to the current sum, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association, bringing the prize from $800 million on Friday to $825 million on Saturday, with a cash value of $410.2 million.

Jackpot winners will be able to choose whether they want to receive their prize as an annuity, paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a lump sum payment.

The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9, while the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million, according to the association.

If anyone does scoop the prize on Saturday night they would immediately become richer than a series of celebrities, including U2 front man Bono.

What Time is the Powerball Drawing

The Powerball drawing is expected to take place at the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee at 10:59 p.m. ET on Saturday.

If you have not purchased a lottery ticket yet, but the record-high jackpot is tempting you to take your chances and buy one, you can still do so until one or two hours before the scheduled drawing, though ticket sale cut-off times vary by jurisdiction.

How to Watch Powerball Draw

The Powerball drawing will be streamed online at Powerball.com.

Drawings are live-streamed on the website every Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays.

Is This the Biggest Powerball Jackpot Ever?

The winner's of Saturday's jackpot will rank as the second largest jackpot winner in Powerball history, according to a news release by the Multi-State Lottery Association, only behind the world record $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot from 2016.

The jackpot is also the fifth largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history.

"A Powerball jackpot this size has a lot of people dreaming big," said Drew Svitko, Powerball Product Group Chair and Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director.

"But we like to remind players that Powerball is supposed to be a fun game. Play responsibly and within your limits – it only takes one $2 ticket to win."

Powerball currently holds the world record for largest jackpot, set in 2016 when winners in California, Florida and Tennessee shared a $1.586 billion jackpot.

Winner Would be Richer than Dolly Parton, Bono

If a player wins Saturday's jackpot, they will be richer than iconic singers Dolly Parton and U2's Bono.

As of August 2021, Tennessee's legendary singer-songwriter had a net worth of $350 million, according to Forbes.

Irish singer-songwriter Bono—one of the world's richest pop stars—has an estimated net worth of $700 million. Much of Bono's fortune does not come from his music, but from having made an investment in Facebook. In 2009, he bought a 2.3 percent share of the company.
