Two lucky winners were able to win last week's $687.8 million Powerball jackpot last week, but did any lucky player win the Wednesday, October 31 $40 million drawing?
The Powerball drawing took place at 11 p.m. EST on Wednesday night, with the jackpot prize at $40 million, with a cash option of $23 million. The winning numbers were: 07-25-39-40-47, Powerball: 20 and PowerPlay: 3X, according to the Powerball website.
There are currently no winners as of right now. The Powerball estimated jackpot for Saturday, November 3 is $53 million with a cash value of $30.5 million. Powerball is one of America's largest multi-state games. The game is played in 44 states across the U.S. including the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday and Saturday nights, and the deadline to purchase tickets until 10:45 p.m. EST before the next drawing. Tickets cost $2 to play.
Last week, two lucky players claimed the Powerball jackpot after 21 weeks without a ticket matching all six winning numbers. The winning numbers were 8, 12, 13, 19 and 27. The last jackpot was worth $687.8 million and was divided between the two winners. It was the third-largest jackpot in the game's history, as well as the fourth-largest in U.S. lottery history.
The three largest Powerball jackpots in U.S. history were the $1.586 billion jackpot on January 13, 2016; the $758.7 million jackpot on August 23, 2017, and the $687.8 million jackpot on October 27, 2018, according to the Powerball website.
Didn't win the Powerball? No worries, there are other big lottery games going on in the U.S., such as the Mega Millions game. The game had experienced some technical difficulties during Tuesday night's drawing and no Mega Ball dropped, which caused the results of the game to be delayed.
The results of Tuesday night's Mega Millions drawings were 20-49-39-31-46, Mega Ball: 23 and Megaplier: 2x. There were two winning tickets sold in Michigan, according to the Mega Millions website. One ticket was sold at Ahlora Mart LLC, at 201 N. Groesbeck in Mount Clemens, Michigan. The second ticket was sold at the Us Energy Distribution LLC, at G4005 Clio Rd. in Flint, Michigan. The ticket sold in Flint matched five white balls with Megaplier for a $2 million prize, according to the MLive.
