Peter DeLuca of Sterling Heights, Michigan, was the last person to claim a Powerball million dollar jackpot prize, according to lottery officials. The 51-year-old told lottery officials he purchased a ticket for the October 13 drawing and left it in the car. He forgot about it and took it a local 7-Eleven to check his numbers.

"I took the ticket to 7-Eleven to scan it and see if it was a winner. When the clerk scanned it, she told me it was more than she could cash so she printed off the numbers from the drawing so I could check the ticket and see how much I'd won," DeLuca previously told lottery officials when he picked up his check on December 21. "As she read them off to me, I couldn't believe I was seeing them all on my ticket!"

DeLuca told lottery officials that the winnings will pay for a big vacation and will easily help him retire.

"Winning really hasn't fully hit home yet, but it does give me some peace of mind to know that I will have this for a more comfortable retirement when I decide to slow down," DeLuca previously told lottery officials.

One person from Long Island in New York hit the $425 million Mega Millions jackpot on Tuesday. The winning Mega Millions numbers announced at 11 p.m. EST on Tuesday night were 34-44-57-62-70, Mega Ball 14 and Megaplier 4X, according to the Mega Millions website.
