The last person to claim a Powerball prize was a father from Fremont, Nebraska. Zach Norenberg claimed his one million dollar jackpot prize on March 8 after purchasing a winning ticket for the March 6 Powerball drawing, according to a Powerball press release.

Norenberg told lottery officials he was dropping his daughter off before going to work when he stopped at the Hy-Vee Gas station in Fremont to fill up his truck and buy an energy drink. He said he decided to purchase a few lottery tickets and picked the numbers based on family members birthdays. The jackpot winner told lottery officials he was watching his local news station one night when the winning numbers popped up on screen and decided to check his ticket.

"I called and woke my parents," he told lottery officials. "I said, 'Dad, I just won $1 million.'"

Norenberg and his wife, Shelby, told lottery officials they will pay off their student loan debt, their mortgage, and will use the rest of the winnings to help with their one-year-old daughter and a new baby on the way. The soon-to-be father of two also decided to buy another lottery ticket on March 8 when they were heading to Des Moines, Iowa, for his brother's wedding.
