One of the latest Powerball winners was a man from Virginia who won one million dollars. George Tinnell from Manassas, Virginia matched the five Powerball numbers during the January 5 drawing. He told lottery officials he purchased the ticket from the Fairway Grocery in Manassas and told the store clerk he had a good feeling about the ticket.

"I think I'm going to win this time," Tinnell recalled telling the store clerk when he purchased the ticket.

He told lottery officials he was at home with his neighbor the following day after the drawing when he found out he hit the jackpot.

"I looked at my buddy and said, 'I just won!'" he told lottery officials.

The grocery store that sold the winning ticket will also receive a $10,000 bonus. Tinnell told lottery officials that he doesn't have any immediate plans on how to spend the money, but said he would pay off some of his bills.

A man from Brooklyn, New York claimed a $298.3 million prize from a Powerball drawing on December 26 last month. David Johnson, who is originally from Jamaica, told WCBS-TV that he decided to purchase a ticket for the drawing from Arnold's Service Station in Brooklyn. His friend called him the next day and told him someone won the Powerball from the gas station, and he couldn't believe he was the winner.

Johnson told WABC-TV that he has hired an attorney who will help him invest in the money and help him take care of his family. He also plans on buying a red Porsche he's always dreamed about "so everyone can see me when I drive on the street."
