There have been many tributes to Prince at various festivals and awards shows since his death in April. But now the late musician's family has announced the first full-fledged concert in his honor.

Scheduled for October, the tribute gig will be held in Prince's hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the U.S. Bank Stadium, which has a capacity of up to 72,000 people, the Associated Press reported.

"We are excited for the opportunity to bring everyone together for the official family celebration of Prince's life, music and legacy, and there is no better place to do it than his hometown of Minneapolis," the star's family said in a statement. "We are honored by the artists who will pay tribute and grateful to those that have worked so hard to make this celebration possible."

Performers are expected to be announced soon and tickets will go on sale in August.

Since Prince's death on April 21 stars including Madonna and the singer's former protegee Janelle Monae have covered his songs in tribute performances. Madonna and Stevie Wonder sang "Nothing Compares 2 U" and "Purple Rain" at the Billboard Music Awards in May.
