Harry and Meghan 2nd Oprah Interview Would Look 'Vindictive': Nigel Farage

An unsubstantiated rumor of a second interview between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Oprah Winfrey would leave the royal couple looking "vindictive" and "money-grubbing," according to a former British politician.

Nigel Farage, the former leader of the U.K Independence (UKIP) and Brexit parties, told Sky News Australia anchor Paul Murray that a rumored "second interview could be underway" between the Sussexes and Winfrey after the couple were photographed driving to the television veteran's home in June.

He told Murray: "If it is, I tell you what, they won't succeed."

"In cricketing terms, the queen has got the best forward and backward defense you've ever seen, she never gives her wicket away," he added, inferring what the 96-year-old monarch's reaction to another bombshell interview would be.

Harry and Meghan's first sit-down tell-all with interviewer Winfrey took place in March 2021 following the couple's stepping down from their roles as full-time working royals a year earlier.

In the 86-minute broadcast, both Harry and Meghan discussed the highs and lows of their married lives as working royals, including difficult subjects such as Meghan's mental health struggles and racially insensitive comments allegedly made by an unnamed member of the royal family regarding the skin color of the couple's future children.

The fallout from the interview was swift with reviews of the broadcast both praising and criticizing the couple and directing anger towards the monarchy for the apparent poor treatment of Meghan by the royal household.

In the days after the interview was released, Prince William was asked by a journalist on an engagement whether the royals were racist referring to the allegation against an unnamed member of the family.

Breaking with his usual "never complain, never explain" motto, William responded to the journalist with the quote: "We are very much not a racist family."

The interview also laid bare the apparent rift that formed between William and Harry as well as Meghan and Kate.

Responding to a question over reports that Meghan had made Kate cry in the lead-up to the 2018 royal wedding, Meghan told Winfrey:

"No. The reverse happened," later adding that "A few days before the wedding, she was upset about something pertaining — yes, the issue was correct — about flower-girl dresses, and it made me cry, and it really hurt my feelings."

On this subject, Meghan finished by saying that Kate had apologized for the situation and that she had forgiven her, but was disappointed that no one within the royal household corrected the story when it was reported that it was she who made Kate cry and was villainized for it.

To Farage, the prospect of Harry and Meghan undertaking another interview, which has not been officially confirmed by either the couple or Winfrey, would be detrimental to their image.

"If they do this again," he told Sky News Australia, "they will look vindictive, money-grubbing and even those people who to date have given them the benefit of the doubt will start to turn against them."

He also added his belief that "you do feel actually with the pair of them, they're beginning to look a little bit desperate. They're plea for victimhood whilst at the same time as they jet around the world on their private jets, it's just not working."

Farage has been an outspoken critic of both Harry and Meghan in the past. In a March 2022 appearance on the British news network GB News, he claimed that the two have damaged the monarchy as a result of their interview with Winfrey, calling their actions "totally despicable."

Winfrey and the Sussexes are neighbors as both live in the Santa Barbara area of Los Angeles, California, where Harry and Meghan moved in 2020.
