'Did William Drop An F-Bomb?': Prince's Wimbledon Reaction Goes Viral

Prince William's tense reaction while watching a quarter-final tennis match at Wimbledon on Tuesday with wife, Kate Middleton, has gone viral on social media.

A video uploaded to Twitter by user @rdgboi13 shows the prince's reaction to a critical moment in the men's singles quarter-final match between British tennis pro Cameron Norrie and Belgian contender David Goffin.

In the early stages of the match Norrie made a critical slip up which put his chances of winning in jeopardy. Norrie is the only British pro left in the championships, and William and Kate moved from the prestigious royal box on Wimbledon's Center Court to watch the homegrown hopeful on the smaller No 1 Court.

William's reaction, captured by television cameras and uploaded to Twitter, see's the prince saying "no, no, no'' as Norrie loses a point.

The then usually reticent royal appears to make a PG-13 expletive much to the amusement of social media commentators.

"Haha Prince William saying no, no, no f*** it lol #Wimbledon," the Twitter video, which has over 100,000 views, is captioned.

The royal's choice of words has not been officially confirmed but social media users appeared to think the footage left little to the imagination.

"Iconic" one post read with another asking: "Did William drop an F-bomb? It must suck to have cameras on you all the time. Hahaha..."

"It was the loosening of the tie as he said it," observed another.

William and Kate were at Wimbledon in what has become an annual joint outing for the couple, Kate being patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) that hosts the championships.

On their arrival at the complex on Tuesday the couple made their way to Center Court, where they were seated in the royal box to watch defending champion title holder Novak Djokovic play against Italian competitor Jannik Sinner.

Also in attendance at the Djokovic match were two royal relations in the form of Kate's mother and father, Carole and Michael Middleton. The duchess was seen blowing a kiss to her parents as she took her seat on the front row.

Djokovic won his match and the royal couple moved to the Norrie game where they were joined by another member of the extended royal family, the Duchess of Gloucester, who is a neighbor of the Cambridges at Kensington Palace.

Though the match between Norrie and Goffin began with the latter taking an early lead, Norrie played consistently to a victory meaning he will go on to face defending champion Djokovic in the semi-finals on July 8.

William's apparent outburst is not the first time a prominent figure has been captured on camera during the heat of a pro-tennis match. In 2015, Kim Sears, wife of British Wimbledon champion Andy Murray, was criticized for swearing during the Australian Open. In response to this Sears turned up to the final match to watch Murray wearing a t-shirt with the "parental advisory" logo emblazoned across it.

Murray said of the drama, per Sky Sports: "In the heat of the moment, you can say stuff that you regret."

The royals have a long connection with Wimbledon which, as a championship, started in 1877.

Perhaps one of the most notable royal tennis fans was Princess Diana who would attend several matches during the championship during the years of her marriage. The princess' daughter-in-law Kate is now the most famous royal face regularly spotted in the stands each year.

As well as Kate, Diana's daughter-in-law Meghan Markle is also a known tennis fan with the royal attending Wimbledon on multiple occasions both before and after her marriage to Prince Harry watching her friend Serena Williams play.

Queen Elizabeth II, is a known fan of sports but tennis is reportedly not closely followed by the monarch, who has rarely attended Wimbledon with only four official visits being recorded in her seven decade reign. The last of these came over a decade ago in 2010.

In her position as patron of the AELTC, Kate has recently presented the winners of the men's and women's singles finals matches with their trophies and so the royal is expected to make further visits to the famous championship later in the month.
