Charlotte Is a Future Soccer 'Star' Says William: 'Really Good in Goal'

Prince William has revealed that Princess Charlotte, 7, is a "budding" soccer star while older brother Prince George, 8, is "very competitive" during a visit with the England women's soccer team.

William made the visit as the president of Britain's Football Association (FA) as the England women's team prepare to play in the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 soccer tournament.

The prince's visit comes just a month after he was loudly booed during the FA Cup Final between Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC in London. William was booed by Liverpool fans when his name was announced over Wembley Stadium's loud speakers, with the crowd continuing to boo throughout Britain's national anthem, "God Save The Queen."

Many commentators came out against the treatment of William and the booing of the national anthem in the days following the match, including Prime Minister Boris Johnson who said via a spokesperson: "It was a great shame that as we are marking 150 years of the FA Cup, an event that brings people together, that a small minority chose to act in that way."

Others defended the right of Liverpool FC fans to challenge figures of the British establishment such as the royals after the 1989 Hillsborough disaster which saw 97 fans die following a human crush during an FA Cup match.

Liverpool fans were initially blamed for causing the crush, however, a series of investigations over the subsequent decades found that a substantial cover up was put in place to detract from police mismanagement of the event.

William has been president of the FA since 2006 and his visit to the England women's team, nicknamed the "Lionesses," saw the prince discuss how much the whole Cambridge family enjoys soccer as a sport.

After being presented with personalized England football shirts for each of his children, George, Charlotte and Louis, the prince told the team: "Charlotte wants me to tell you she's really good in goal. She said 'please tell them that,'" before adding that she is "a budding star for the future!"

As the royal toured the St George's Football Ground where the England team trains, he spoke about his eldest son George's own love of football, telling Lionesses captain Leah Williamson, per the Daily Mail, that he plays for a local football team and that the young prince "gets very competitive."

On the day, William took to the field with the team and took two penalty shots, with one being saved by the goalkeeper and the other making it through.

William last played soccer in front of the cameras on his controversial tour of the Caribbean in March. The royal took part in an amateur kick about with a local team from Trenchtown in Jamaica alongside England soccer professional Raheem Sterling.

The Cambridge children have found themselves increasingly in the spotlight this year as they took part in Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

George, Charlotte and Louis took part in their first official carriage procession on the first day of the jubilee celebrations, traveling to the Trooping the Colour parade with their mother Kate Middleton and step-grandmother Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

Though George and Charlotte were front and center during balcony appearances and a special visit to Wales during the weekend long celebrations, it was younger brother Louis who stole the show according to social media.

The little prince's cheeky antics during the Buckingham Palace flypast and jubilee pageant saw much discussion over the following days.

Kate became the focus for criticism over her parenting abilities after the jubilee pageant which saw Louis become restless during the three hour parade and was filmed covering his mother's mouth with his hand.

In response to this criticism, William and Kate added a line to a Twitter message thanking the public for their support over the jubilee reading: "We all had an incredible time, especially Louis... "

This was followed by an emoji showing a pair of eyes glancing to one side and was signed "W & C" for "William and Catherine."
