PS5 Restock Update for Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop, Target and More

There have only been a couple of PS5 restocks since the beginning of 2022. As such, it's still quite difficult to get a hold of Sony's next-gen console anywhere in the country. Drops remain few and far between and, whenever they do occur, the supplies are often picked clean before you even have a chance to get on the relevant website.

With that in mind, it's important to keep abreast of the latest developments and know when future restocks are likely to take place. To help you, Newsweek has prepared the following update.

Walmart PS5 Restock

It's been almost a month since Walmart was last selling the PS5, which means that it is now long overdue for another restock.

In the past, Walmart has been one of the more predictable outlets when it comes to coordinating console drops, usually scheduling them every other Thursday at 3 p.m. ET. However, the various Black Friday and Cyber Monday flash sales in 2021 disrupted this fortnightly pattern, throwing everything off-kilter.

While there is no confirmed date for the next restock, reliable tracker Matt Swider has predicted that it will be sometime in early January. Time is running out for this to happen, so you might want to keep an eye on the Walmart website over the coming days, particularly on the afternoon of Thursday, January 13.

Target PS5 Restock

As anticipated, there was a PS5 restock at Target last week and it did occur in the early hours of the morning (as we forecast in our previous update).

The inventory levels varied on a location-by-location basis, with some branches having upwards of 150 consoles. This meant that your chance of success was largely dependent on which state you live in, as you must specify a nearby store whenever you are ordering online from Target.

If you are lucky, there might still be some PS5s left over in your local area. To check, head over to the Target website and then enter your ZIP code into the search field so that you can narrow down the results.

Best Buy PS5 Restock

Shortly after we published our last update, Best Buy restocked on PS5 units. While these sales are often reserved for the merchant's premium TotalTech customers, that was not the case this time.

Even though anybody could place an order without needing to register for a loyalty scheme, the supplies managed to last for quite some time (half an hour being ages in the world of PS5 restocks).

Of course, they have now been fully depleted and you can no longer make a purchase.

Amazon PS5 Restock

Just before the end of 2021, Amazon managed to coordinate one last PS5 digital edition restock.

Given that the online marketplace normally limits its drops to once per month, it's not expected that there will be another one until the end of January.

Newsweek will continue to monitor this situation in future updates, but Amazon restocks are quite rare nowadays.

GameStop PS5 Restock

The last PS5 restock at GameStop took place on Tuesday, December 28. The new supplies were inevitably drained within minutes and there are no longer any units left.

To be alerted as soon as the situation improves, we recommend that you follow dependable console trackers like @GYXdeals and @Wario64 on Twitter and turn on notifications.

Newegg PS5 Restock

As always, the Newegg Shuffle draw today will open at 11 a.m. ET. The lottery does not feature any PS5 or Xbox units on this occasion, but it's still worth checking every day just to make sure.

Elsewhere, you can browse the general Newegg website to see if there are any second-hand consoles up for grabs. If you decide to do this, just be careful that you do not get ripped off, as reseller accounts will often charge extortionate prices.

PS Direct PS5 Restock

To get a console from Sony's official storefront, an explicit invitation from the manufacturer is usually required. The most recent of these exclusive sales took place on Thursday, January 6.

To be considered for future events, you will need to register your interest on the PS Direct website. More information on how to do so can be found here.

If you do end up being selected for the next restock, you will receive an email from PS Direct telling you when the supplies will be available. These invites have a tendency to get sorted into "Junk" or "Spam" folders, so make sure that you periodically check those, otherwise you could miss your chance.

Sam's Club PS5 Restock

While the PS5 remains sold out at Sam's Club, you can get an Xbox Series S from the merchant instead. To find out more about the bundles on offer here, check out our separate restock update for Microsoft's console.

Antonline PS5 Restock

The situation is the same over at Antonline, where you are currently able to pick up the Xbox Series S in a variety of different bundles.

The all-digital console is available to purchase as a standalone item (for the recommended retail price of $299) or packaged together with currency vouchers for the likes of Fortnite and Rocket League.

Unfortunately, the PlayStation 5 is not listed at Antonline right now.

Costco PS5 Restock

There has not been a PS5 restock at Costco since October 2021. While there is currently no word on when the inventory is expected to be replenished, the last drop did come totally out of the blue.

As such, it might be worth following the likes of @GYXdeals and @Wario64 on Twitter, just in case there is another surprise.
