PS5 Restock Update for Amazon, Walmart, Newegg, Best Buy, Target, GameStop and More

Despite the fact that it has been out for over a year, getting a hold of a PS5 continues to be very tricky.

Whenever product drops occur, the inventory is often depleted before shoppers even have a chance to open up the relevant webpage. Meanwhile, scalpers are continuing to stockpile units across the U.S. and are making it even more difficult to get a fair deal.

That being said, there is at least one website that is currently offering the console.

To help you navigate this situation, Newsweek has prepared the following breakdown of PS5 restock information at every major U.S. retailer.

Newegg PS5 Restock

Your best bet for getting a PS5 today (Wednesday, December 29) is to enter the latest Newegg Shuffle.

The console is available in the draw, as part of a $889 bundle. In addition to the system itself, you will also get physical copies of recent blockbusters like Spiderman: Miles Morales, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Far Cry 6, Battlefield 2042, and Deathloop.

If you can afford it then this is definitely a worthwhile bundle, but you cannot just buy it in a straightforward transaction. Instead, you must enter the Newegg lottery draw and hope that you end up being the randomly-selected customer who gets to make a purchase.

Amazon PS5 Restock

Amazon restocked on PS5 units on Tuesday, December 28.

As is often the case with these drops, all the supplies were depleted within minutes. This left many shoppers feeling disappointed that they were still unable to beat the crowds, even after Christmas Day has passed.

If you try searching for a PlayStation 5 console on the marketplace now, then you will not even be able to find a listed product page anymore. To make matters worse, Amazon's restocks tend to be monthly, which means that you probably shouldn't get your hopes up for another one taking place anytime soon.

GameStop PS5 Restock

GameStop was also selling PS5s yesterday (December 28), yet this restock was limited to the digital model of the console only.

Given that the more popular disc edition was not available here, the drop had a bit more longevity than its Amazon equivalent. The items were not available for a great deal of time, but there was at least a 20-minute window in which you could place an order.

In general, there seems to be less demand and competition for the digital edition PS5 so, if the lack of a disc drive is not a deal-breaker for you, then it's definitely worth keeping an eye out for these restocks in the future.

Best Buy PS5 Restock

Best Buy actually managed to coordinate two separate restocks over the past couple of days.

The first of these was reserved exclusively for the outlet's TotalTech subscribers. If you are not familiar with this premium loyalty scheme, it often provides early access to console restocks or other big sales.

Before you make the commitment though, it is worth noting that TotalTech is on the expensive side (costing an annual membership fee of $200), so it's definitely not for everybody. While there are several benefits — including 24/7 support lines and various discounts — it's a big investment if you are only going to use it once to get a PS5.

If you don't think it's worthwhile for you, then you can always just wait for the next standard console restock at Best Buy. Speaking of which, the last one of these occurred on Tuesday, December 28 but quickly sold out.

Walmart PS5 Restock

Walmart tends to favour a 3 p.m. ET timeslot on Thursdays when it comes to organizing their restocks. As such, we would advise that you keep an eye on the retailer's website in the afternoon of December 30 if you want to get a PS5 for its recommended manufacturer's cost of $499.

Until then, you can browse the marketplace for pre-owned units, but these will be considerably overpriced as they are being traded by opportunistic scalpers looking to turn a profit.

However, there are some Xbox Series S deals if you are open to getting Microsoft's rival hardware instead. More information about these deals can be found here.

Sam's Club PS5 Restock

The situation is identical over at Sam's Club, where the PS5 remains sold out, but there are a few Xbox Series S bundles up for grabs.

Specifically, you can get Microsoft's all-digital console packaged with a spare "Pulse Red" controller, a wired stereo headset and in-game currency vouchers for both Rocket League and Fortnite. If you are interested, this item costs $399.98.

PS Direct PS5 Restock

Even Sony's own official storefront is struggling to keep up with demand at the moment.

While they do not have any PS5 units available to buy right now, you should at least register for future restock events. You can find more about this here.

Costco PS5 Restock

You cannot buy a PS5 from Costco at the time of writing and the merchant seldom restocks.

If there is a surprise drop over the coming days, then the likes of @GYXdeals and @Wario64 will alert their followers on Twitter.
