Tears for Adorable Puppy 'Terrified' of Tiniest Thing Imaginable

Like babies, puppies are trying to figure out the world, and finding out what they like and dislike. One owner has recently shared her dog's fear, and it has melted viewers' hearts.

In a viral video posted a day ago by owner Lottie-Lou (@lottie89lou), a black cockapoo can be seen trembling while her owner sits closely and reassures her that "it's alright."

Despite being told to calm down and comforted with hugs and kisses, the puppy is far from relaxed. The caption says why she is "terrified of flies." At the time of writing, the clip has amassed more than 265,000 views in just 24 hours.

Joe Nutkins, a dog trainer certified by the Kennel Club, told Newsweek why dogs may be afraid of the insect.

She said: "When dogs have a fearful reaction to flies, the first thing to look at are reactions happening with the family. Often, although not always, dogs observe their owners trying to eject a fly from the home, and it's these actions that cause our dogs to be worried."

Nutkins, who is based in the U.K., said that some dogs may not know a fly is present yet they see their owner waving their hands around erratically. This can be a concern for the canine. If a fly swat or electric zapper is the deterrent of choice, this may put the dog even more on edge.

"For a dog, it looks like irregular behavior, and this causes anxiety in an otherwise confident dog, and huge worry for any canines who already have less confidence," Nutkins said.

Once this association is in place, a fly in the room can send a dog into an anxious and fearful state. To prevent this, Nutkins said owners should be less responsive when a fly is around and move their pet into another room.

Nutkins added that she encourages owners to do something fun with their dog, such as offer treats and play to change the canine's fly association.

"It may take a little while for a dog to completely feel calm enough to be in the same room a fly is in and to do something like play, so utilize space and distance," Nutkins said.

In the comments, Lottie-Lou told one user that her dog struggles in the summer. She wrote: "We do all we can to reduce his stress, as soon as we see one we get rid! He's such a good boy."

Viewers wrote in the comments that many dogs are scared of flies. One viewer posted: "My dog is the exact same - even the word 'fly' makes him like this."

"Mine is scared too after getting stung by a wasp," commented another.

A third added: "My cockapoo is the same! hates flies but will try and eat a bee."
