'Red Dead Redemption 2' Launch Trailer Gives Final Look at Game's Story

The launch trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 is here, meaning we're only a few days away from finally diving into Rockstar's latest western epic. While we already know most of the major players in Red Dead 2, the trailer gives a little more context about the game's plot.

The trailer, which can be watched above, shines more light on the relationship between main character Arthur Morgan and his gang leader/de-facto father figure Dutch Van der Linde. While Dutch is the clear leader of the group, he clearly values and respects Morgan's thoughts on potential heists. In response, Morgan claims in the trailer that nothing is more important to him than the gang. I bet there's going to be some strife there eventually.

About half-way through the trailer, we hear Dutch pleading with Morgan to trust him about an upcoming job. Morgan doesn't sound so thrilled about the prospect of attacking another train, but the trailer cuts to the gang robbing a train, so Morgan probably buries his concerns and goes along with the job anyway.

At the 36-second mark in the trailer, we get a glimpse at what will likely be a major antagonist in Red Dead 2. The guys in fancy vests and bowler hats have badges on their chests, implying they are law enforcement agents of some kind. The man with the scary, gaunt appearance says he doesn't want to kill everyone, just Dutch. It's possible these law enforcement agents have been wronged by the gang, and are acting with motivations beyond simply doing their jobs and keeping order.

The trailer then ends with what appear to be several opportunities to craft your own story with Morgan. Multiple people give questions about where Morgan's loyalties lie, or even make life-and-death decisions like when Dutch yells "It's us or him." These questions might just be basic conversation, or could provide choices for players to make. We'll just have to wait and see how Red Dead Redemption 2 plays out.

So what do you think? Are you excited to finally play Red Dead Redemption 2 when it releases on Oct. 26? Will you wait for reviews to release before making any purchases? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
