'Rick and Morty' Creator Hints at Season 4 'Interdimensional Cable' Episode

Justin Roiland, the voice of both Rick and Morty, is back in the booth recording improvisational ramblings for a potential "Interdimensional Cable" episode for Rick and Morty Season 4.

On Saturday, Roiland posted a photo to Instagram with the caption "Idc3 (maybe)," a reference to two previous episodes of Rick and Morty.

While stopping just short of confirming an "Interdimensional Cable" episode would be part of Rick and Morty Season 4, Roiland's post at least suggests that one episode of Season 4 will continue the ongoing tradition of improv and vignette skits that have comprised at least one episode per season.

The tradition began in the Rick and Morty Season 1 episode "Rixty Minutes," when Rick modified the Smith family cable box to capture broadcasts from multiple parallel dimensions. Rather than an elaborate, episode-length plot, "Rixty Minutes" instead focused on channel-surfing, clicking through to multi-species A-Team knockoff Ball Fondlers, a cop show parody about a detective with baby legs and a cartoon starring a misanthropic Garfield with his name changed to Gazorpazorpfield.

Interdimensional cable returned in Season with "Interdimensional Cable 2: Tempting Fate," which moved the action to an alien hospital's waiting room. Season 3 ditched Interdimensional cable, instead introducing a new format for a rapid-fire, short segments episode—"Morty's Mind Blowers," a collection of traumatic and inconvenient memories Rick erased from Morty's brain.

Roiland's "(maybe)" might suggest that Season 4 will include an episode with multiple sketches, but they're not yet certain whether it will be "Interdimensional Cable" or a "Morty's Mind Blowers" episode.

Earlier in January, producers at Bardel Entertainment in Vancouver, Canada revealed that animation on Rick and Morty Season 4 has begun. We've also seen glimpses into the series' writers room, including their obsession with the movie 27 Dresses and pictures of new episode scripts. There's also a lot of this going on:

While nothing official has been revealed from Rick and Morty Season 4, one of the season's guest voices has been revealed: Jurassic Park and Possession's Sam Neill.

Rick and Morty Season 4 doesn't yet have a release date, but may include more episodes than previous seasons, with plans to produce 14 episodes, co-creator Dan Harmon told Entertainment Weekly. Season 4 is just the beginning for Rick and Morty, which was renewed for 70 episodes in 2018.
