Ron Goldman's Father Reacts to O.J. Simpson's Death

The father of Ron Goldman spoke out Thursday about the death of O.J. Simpson.

Daniel Arkin, a reporter for NBC News, said on X, formerly Twitter, that he spoke with Ron Goldman's father, Fred, on Thursday following Simpson's death.

"The only thing I have to say is it's just further reminder of Ron being gone all these years. It's no great loss to the world. It's a further reminder of Ron's being gone," Fred Goldman said, according to Arkin.

The context

On Thursday, Simpson's family shared a post on X, announcing the death of the former NFL star who was accused of killing his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman in 1994.

"On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren," the post said. "During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace."

Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman were found in the early morning of June 13 fatally stabbed near Goldman's apartment in Los Angeles, California.

Shortly after their deaths, Simpson was named as a person of interest and subsequently arrested.

The world was taken by storm when Simpson attempted to flee from police, resulting in a famous car chase while he was driving a white Ford Bronco. Simpson eventually surrendered to police and was placed on trial in the killings of Brown Simpson and Goldman.

Simpson's trial received heavy viewership from Americans around the nation. In 1995, Simpson was acquitted, prompting widespread speculation about the murders. However, in 1997, Simpson was hit with a civil lawsuit by Goldman's family and was found liable for wrongful death.

Shortly after the announcement of Simpson's death, Caitlyn Jenner issued a statement on social media, saying "good riddance."

During his trial, Simpson was represented by attorney Robert Kardashian, who was previously married to Kris Jenner. A month after her divorce from Kardashian, Kris Jenner married Bruce Jenner, who has since taken on the name Caitlyn after coming out as transgender. The Jenners were married for 24 years before their divorce in 2015.

An attorney for Ron Goldman issued a statement following Simpson's death, saying that the former NFL star "died without penance," the Associated Press reported.

Jim Porter the president of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, said: "O.J. Simpson was the first player to reach a rushing mark many thought could not be attained in a 14-game season when he topped 2,000 yards."

Simpson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985.
