Conservative political commentator and talk show host Rush Limbaugh compared Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-N.Y.) and the Democratic Party to Hitler, Stalin and Mao Zedong today on Premiere Radio Networks' The Rush Limbaugh Show.
During a discussion about the Democrats and Covington High School teens, the radio host quoted actor and political commentator Ben Stein's recent comments comparing Ocasio-Cortez to infamous dictators, claiming her socialist policies will lead to mass murder and dictatorship.
"Ben Stein tweets, 'We have a society in which there are an awful lot of people who have no idea that Stalin, Hitler, Mao Zedong all came to power promising the same kinds of things that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is promising. And it led to mass murder, it led to dictatorship, it led to genocide,'" the radio host said during his show on Monday. "Now, what would you call that? All that is true, it's absolutely true, but it's not just Cortez. Folks, this is what the Democrat Party has become."
Limbaugh continued: "Let me ask you some—you remember what happened to the kid, the Covington High School kids. Do you know of one person who stood up on the Democrat side and rejected the treatment that kid was getting from their supporters? No."
The conservative radio host then went on criticize the New York state Senate for passing legislation to protect women's right to an abortion, calling it "legalized murder." "Last week, after the New York state Senate legalized murder, calling it abortion, the same buildings lit up in pink," he said. "To honor who? Who has pink as their color? Well, the militant feminazis and the pro-abortion crowd, and even some, some—pink is a color in the gay rainbow."
Limbaugh also argued that liberals will deny they are the problem and will instead claim that Republicans are the "threat," and went on to insist that "when you get down to it in terms of their totalitarian instincts, authoritarian instincts, they are Stalinist to the core."
Throughout the years, Limbaugh has repeatedly compared Demcratic figures to dictators and totalitarian leaders in history. During Barack Obama's presidency, Limbaugh compared the former Democratic president to Hitler multiple times, claiming both "ruled by dictate."
In 2011, the conservative condemned Obama for announcing plans to withdraw 33,000 troops from Afghanistan by the summer of 2012. "What better way to fire up the Democrat base than to announce you intend to lose the war in Afghanistan?" he said. "What do General Petraeus and Gates, the Defense Secretary, what do they know?... You know, Hitler's generals tried to argue with him, too."
