Sarah Cooper's Latest Impression Asks the Question 'Why Did Lesley Stahl Even Give Trump the Time of Day?'

In light of recent controversy surrounding Lesley Stahl's upcoming interview with President Donald Trump on 60 Minutes, comedian Sarah Cooper has made a new clip, using Stahl's 2018 interview with the president. Given the allegations that Trump walked out of the recent interview, Cooper questioned, "I don't know why Leslie Stahl even gives Trump the time of day."

While Cooper tweeted the video on Thursday, it was actually first released in September by climate change coalition World War Zero. In the video description, World War Zero described their mission. "The climate crisis is no joke. How to Climate Change is denial in action. Help us confront the climate crisis and #BuildBackBetter with a powerful army of activists and influencers," it wrote.

As usual, Cooper lip syncs along to Trump in the video, but she also lip syncs as a frustrated Stahl asking questions about climate change and trying to lead him into agreement about the issue.

The clip Cooper uses is from the beginning of his 60 Minutes interview in October 2018. The clip begins shortly after Stahl had asked the President if he believed that climate change was a hoax. "I think something's happening. Something's changing and it'll change back again. I don't think it's a hoax, I think there's probably a difference. But I don't know that it's manmade. I will say this. I don't wanna give trillions and trillions of dollars. I don't wanna lose millions and millions of jobs," he responded in the interview before Cooper's clip began.

While Cooper's Trump impression earned her recognition, it's her facial expressions as Stahl that really steal the show.

As she portrays the 60 Minutes reporter, Cooper's facial expressions fall somewhere in the cross of guiding kindergarten teacher, doomsday preacher, and frustrated parent. "I wish you could go to Greenland, watch these huge chunks of ice just falling into the ocean, raising the sea levels," Cooper lip-syncs as Stahl as the Trump character grimaces and mouths "Greenland?"

As the Trump character responds, "And you don't know whether or not that would have happened with or without man. You don't know," Cooper's Stahl becomes more and more frustrated. "Well, your scientists, your scientists at NOAA and NASA," she lip-syncs.

After Trump's deflection, Cooper as Stahl tries to appeal to Trump by showing the influence he has. "I was thinking what if he said, 'No, I've seen the hurricane situations, I've changed my mind. There really is climate change.' And I thought, 'Wow, what an impact,'" Cooper lip-syncs, although the kindness is short-lived.

"I'm not denying climate change. But it could very well go back. You know, we're talkin' about over a millions," Trump responds with a childish eye roll, before an even more exasperated Stahl interjects, "But that's denying it!"

After a brief stall, Trump just reverts to saying that scientists are against him. "You'd have to show me the scientists because they have a very big political agenda, Lesley," he says. "Look, scientists also have a political agenda."

The video then cuts to show a glacier melting and advising people to visit the World War Zero website.

Cooper's publicist did not respond to Newsweek's emailed request for comment in time for publication.
