Is 'SNL' on Tonight? Watch Don Cheadle Host 'Saturday Night Live' For the First Time

Don Cheadle is set to serve as the next host on Saturday Night Live. The actor will take over hosting duties for the very first time on the sketch comedy show on Saturday.

Of course, with so many outstanding performances in numerous movies and TV shows already under his belt, Cheadle isn't the least bit nervous for his big SNL debut. Although, he noted the episode was likely to be a wild one during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Wednesday.

"It's banana sauce, and it goes so quickly," Cheadle said of his experience prepping for SNL. "You're in and out of these writers' rooms, and they're pitching all these ideas and you're trying to pitch stuff back. It's going to be bizarre, but I'm looking forward to it."

Cheadle said to prep for his upcoming hosting gig, he took inspiration from an experience on stage from his school days. "I'm harkening back to a fifth-grade production of Charlotte's Web," he joked. "I played Templeton the rat."

He already gave fans a glimpse of the mischief he'll likely cause when he teams up with the SNL cast in the latest promo, in which he and SNL star Alex Moffat portrayed buddy cops who have "absolutely no authority whatsoever" at the SNL studio.

Who's performing: Musician Gary Clark Jr. will also make his SNL debut on Saturday. The rock and blues singer will likely perform his newest hit single, "This Land," from his upcoming new album of the same name.

When: Cheadle and Clark will appear on SNL during the show's usual Saturday timeslot at 11:30 p.m. ET.

Where: Each new episode of SNL airs on NBC.

Can it be live streamed: Viewers without TV can still tune into the show via NBC's website or app. Those with Hulu can also watch the show with their subscriptions, although folks with standard packages will have to wait after SNL airs to view it on-demand. As always, the best sketches and skits of the night will be available on SNL's YouTube shortly after the show ends. Fan can keep up with all the SNL chatter on social media by following the hashtag #SNL.
