'Sea of Thieves' Stars of a Thief Guide: How To Find Enchanted Spyglass, Star Jewels, Solve Vault Puzzles and More

It's time again for another Sea of Thieves adventure! In the fourth Sea of Thieves Tall Tale - Stars of a Thief, players must follow the stars to distant locations in search of the precious gems which will lead you to the Shroudbreaker Stone. How to Start the Stars of a Thief Tall Tale

To begin the mission, you will need to head to the Northern Star Seapost found southeast of Cannon Cove. Go to the counter and talk to Sudds. The book will be on the counter next to him. Interact with the book and press X to vote for the Tall Tale. The Tale will now be activated. Talk to Sudds and he'll tell you about his history with Briggsy and his knowledge of navigation by the stars.

Part #1: How to Find the Enchanted Spyglass

To get started, open up your Tall Tale and you will receive a set of instructions. There are a couple of different instructions you can receive. The instructions you get will determine where you should go next.

• If you're instructions begin with the words, "Face the North Star," you'll need to set your course for Rum Run Isle.
• If the instructions say, " My back to the North Star, " head to Twin Groves.

Once you've gotten onto the right island, you'll need to search for a compass. The instructions for finding the dig location will be in your book. If you head to Twin Groves, the dig spot is found between two big rocks. Dig there to find an Ancient Chest. Inside os Sudd's Enchanted Spyglass . Completing this part of the mission will earn you the Heavenly View commendation.

Part #2: Find Star Jewels

After finding the Spyglass your book will now contain two of six possible stories. The stories you get will determine the islands you'll need to travel to in order to find the Star Jewels.

Star Jewels Locations

• A Hunt - Go to J12. There will be an uncharted island there. Go to the southeast side of the island and dive underwater. Go down deep you should find a Kraken skeleton with the Star Jewel on top of it.
• Battle in the Heavens - Go to Mutineer Rock. Find four big rocks together and dig between them.
• Great Eagle Landing - Go to Love Cove. Find the big stone in the middle of the island. You should see a graveyard with a fence around it. The dig site will be around there.
• Lost an Eye - Go to Shark Bait Cove. Find the underwater islands. The middle one will have a Shark statue on it. Look for a little tunnel underneath.
• Sea Queen's Promise - Go to the Isle of Last Words. Dive off the West side of the island and you should find the Star Jewel.
• Snake's Deception - Go to Rapier Cay. Head to the southeast end of the island and you should find it there.
• The Man Who Lost His Gem - Go to Mermaid's Hideaway. Find the underwater cave in one of the ponds. The gem will be on top of a pillar in one of the main rooms.
• The Patient One - Go to Thieves' Haven. Look for a shipwreck. There will be a fire near it. Dig between the two to find the next Star Jewel.
• They Were Voyagers - Go to Discovery Ridge. Go to the North West part of the island and look in the water for the Star Jewel.

Part #3 - Place Star Jewels

Once you've found all the jewels, you'll need to head to the uncharted island at N13. There you'll find a shipwreck. Dive underwater and look for a cave (Make sure you have the star jewels in your hand.) Find an Ancient Statue and place the Star Jewels in the eye sockets. The statue will then reveal one of the following six totems. The totem you get will determine where you should go next. Locations are as follows:

Totem Locations:

• Moon Totem – head to Crescent Isle
• Boar Totem – head to Devil's Ridge
• Crab Totem – head to Uncharted Island at N13
• Scarab Totem – head to Crook's Hollow
• Shark Totem – head to Kraken's Fall
• Snake Totem – head to Mermaid's Hideaway

Part #4 - How to Find the Ancient Vault

Once you've gone to the right island, you'll need to find and open an Ancient Vault with your totem. If you are having trouble locating the Vault lock, here are the locations:

• Crescent Isle - Find a cave and look inside for the crescent moon rock paintings. The lock will be underneath them.
• Devil's Ridge - Look for a rock with the boar head paintings. The vault lock should be to the left of the paintings.
• Island at N13 - Find the crab rock paintings and the lock will be on the left.
• Crook's Hollow - Look for a waterfall. There is a cave behind it. Go inside and look for scarab rock paintings. The lock will be nearby.
• Kraken's Fall - Find the main arch and the lock will be underneath.
• Mermaid's Hideaway - Look for snake rock paintings near the Arch. The lock will be near there.

Part #5 - How to Complete Vault Puzzles

Once you've unlocked the vault go inside. You'll have to solve puzzles similar to those in the Shroudbreaker quest. Check the last two pages of your book and there you should see a couple of paragraphs. Each one will describe a set of four symbols. You'll use the first paragraph for the first set of pillars and the second for the other pillars. Once you know what symbols you'll be using, go light all the torches and press the button on the table. Once the button is pressed, the room will start filling with water. You will need to turn the pillars to the right symbols before the water fills the room or you have to start again. Once you enter the solution correctly, a hole will open in the wall and you'll see the Shroudbreaker on top of a pedestal. Grab it and head back to your ship.

If you aren't sure how to decipher the phrases, look for the following words in the sentences. They will correspond with specific symbols.

• Warmonger/Eternal Warrior or Man - Great Warrior
• Tear of the Sun - Unending Flame
• Proud One/Watched From High - Proud Eagle
• Part of Himself - Golden Feather
• Proud One/Weapon - Arrow
• Old Mother's Spy - One-Eye Shark
• Teacher/Taught - Iron Scarab
• Sail/Rowed/Vessel/Tar - Tar-Pitch Boat
• Danced - Courting Crab
• Glimmer/Showed Him The Seas - Glimmer Fish
• Oldest Creature/Old Mother - Great Kraken
• Queen/Her Friend - Sea Queen
• Warmer Seas - Unending Flame
• Singer Whispered - Singing Snake
• Spit of Land - Turtle
• One Respected by All - Bear
• Grump - Boar

Part #6 Deliver Shroudbreaker and Collect Rewards

Now that you have the Shroudbreaker, return to the Northern Star Seaport and give it to Sudds. Completing this step will unlock the Stars of a Thief commendation. You'll also receive the Constellation Tattoo Set. If you want to gain the Ancient Spyglass as an additional reward, you'll need to play Stars of a Thief five times and find all five notes. The locations of the notes are below.

Star of Thief Notes Locations

• Note Location #1: found on Rum Runner Isle near a spyglass and maps.
• Note Location #2: found on Plunder Valley on a high rock near a spyglass and maps.
• Note Location #3: found on the top middle island at Snake Island. It will be near a spyglass and maps.
• Note Location #4: found on Devil's Ridge on a high rock. It will be near a spyglass and maps.
• Note Location #5: found on Crescent Isle on a large rock to the southeast.
