Second-Grade Teacher's Way of Announcing Pregnancy to Pupils Melts Hearts

A second-grade teacher has melted hearts all over social media after sharing an emotional clip of the moment she told her class that she was expecting a baby.

The clip, shared on TikTok on Wednesday, under the username Xisabellajaymes, shows the teacher standing by the whiteboard, telling her students she has a big secret.

She chose to make her big announcement with a game of hangman, letting her students guess letter by letter what the good news was. In the end, the phrase read: "Mrs Faller has a baby in her tummy!"

The heartwarming post came with a caption that said: "Telling my second graders that I'm pregnant." This was followed by: "Dressed up like the 'if you give a mouse a cookie' mouse for homecoming week."

One of her students can be heard asking: "Is it actually true?"And as the teacher confirms the news, the children can be heard cheering, some saying they already knew because she had been going to "doctors and doctors and doctors."

The excitement in the classroom reaches such a fever pitch—"The chaos," reads the overlaid text—that the teacher must calm things down with a simple but effective quiet gesture.

The children appear to have performed well in the hangman game as only a head and the rope holding it can be seen on the whiteboard, meaning the students guessed only two wrong letters.

When the teacher explains that her stomach has been getting bigger, and that it will continue to do so, a student shouts out: "So that's why you've been getting so slow!" Much to the delight of the classroom.

According to research published by Statista in June, the average number of children under 18 in families in the U.S. has decreased since 1965, when it was at 2.44. It dipped to 1.81 in 1987, and again in 2007. In 2022, there was an average of 1.94 children under 18 per family in the United States.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 3 million views and 263,900 likes on the platform.

One user, Rachel Krueger, commented: "This is the cutest thing ever!!!! You were meant to be a teacher!!!" And gdam said: "I was waiting for how does that happen." Happyness Design Co. added: "Congratulations. Such a cute announcement."
