Talk show host Seth Meyers blasted president Trump yesterday for failing in his campaign promises to be tough, accusing him of constantly whining.
During a Late Night with Seth Meyers segment yesterday, the host played a montage of the many times that Trump had used the term "baby" as an insult over the years.
"We have a bunch of babies running our country folks," Trump said back on October 21, 2016. "We are losing our jobs like a bunch of babies!" he also proclaimed last year. Shaking his head and staring into the camera, Meyers deadpanned: "Babies don't have jobs."
He then stated: "The guy who called his opponents babies has spent his entire term… whining about people being mean to him, from Saturday Night Live to John McCain to Google."
The comic, who is a former Saturday Night Live writer, addressed the ongoing feud between Trump and outspoken Republican lawyer George Conway, who is the husband of current White House counselor Kellyanne Conway and a vocal critic of the current administration.
Yesterday, the president took to Twitter to digitally confront George Conway, who implied he had narcissistic personality disorder and accused him of being "unfit and incompetent."
Trump wrote: "George Conway, often referred to as Mr. Kellyanne Conway by those who know him, is VERY jealous of his wife's success & angry that I, with her help, didn't give him the job he so desperately wanted. I barely know him but just take a look, a stone cold LOSER & husband from hell!" Earlier in the day, he branded Conway "a total loser" in a shorter outburst.
A letter showing Conway had turned down a Justice Department role was published this week by The Washington Post. Addressed to the White House, it was dated May 31, 2017.
Meyers joked about Trump's marital attack, saying: "I'm sorry, but you are the last person who should call anyone else the husband from hell. You have been divorced twice, you paid hush money to a porn star, your affairs were all over the tabloids and you have misspelled your wife's name. If anything, husband from hell sounds like a Lifetime movie about you."
Kellyanne Conway defended the president in an interview with Politico on Wednesday. "He left it alone for months out of respect for me. But you think he shouldn't respond when somebody, a non-medical professional accuses him of having a mental disorder?" she said. "You think he should just take that sitting down?"
Meyers also focused on Trump's apparent distaste for the internet, especially Google. Last Saturday, Trump tweeted: "Google is helping China and their military, but not the U.S. Terrible! The good news is that they helped Crooked Hillary Clinton, and not Trump....and how did that turn out?" Last year, Trump suggested without evidence that Google search results were being rigged against him.
Meyers joked in response: "In fairness to Trump he probably thinks Google is biased against him because if you search his name all the results are bad. In fact, if you type 'Donald Trump' into Google you just get an error message that says: 'Why are you doing this to yourself?'"
