'Sex/Life' Season 2 Release Date: Will There Be Another Series?

Sex/Life is streaming on Netflix now and has quickly become its number one show worldwide. The series follows a complicated love triangle between suburban housewife Billie Connelly (played by Sarah Shahi), her husband Cooper (Mike Vogel) and Billie's ex-boyfriend Brad (Adam Demos).

The first season was packed with jaw-dropping moments, steamy sex scenes and a heap of drama, but will there be more Sex/Life to come?

At the moment, Netflix has made no official decision on the future of the show. Season one of the steamy drama premiered on Friday, June 25, so it's still very early days for any decision to be made regarding season two.

Netflix usually announces renewals up to sixth months after a show has dropped, so fans may be waiting until the end of the year to find out Sex/Life's fate.

The possibility of a second series will depend on a lot of things, including ratings, cast availability and the decisions of creator Stacey Rukeyser, to name just a few.

Additionally, there is plenty of source material for season two to draw on as the entire series is based on the 2016 book 44 Chapters About 4 Men by B.B. Easton.

Easton also wrote spin-off novels about each individual man, Skin, Speed, Star and Suit.

One thing is for a sure, the show's cast, crew and audiences at home are keeping everything crossed for a second series of Sex/Life after season one's huge cliff hanger ending.

At the end of series one, Billie reconciled with her husband after eight episodes of playing "will-they-won't they."

However, at the very end, Billie decided the suburban life she had with her husband and two children wasn't enough for her and she headed straight for her ex-boyfriend Brad in New York.

Billie laid everything out on the table for Brad, stating she wouldn't be leaving her husband, but that she wanted to pursue a relationship with him. Before Brad's response was revealed, the screen faded to black, setting up the show perfectly for another season.

Speaking to TVLine, showrunner Stacey Rukeyser said: "I don't know what Brad is going to say to her. He really put his heart out there on the driveway and proposed a happily-ever-after to her, and that is not what she's proposing to him.

"I'm not sure if Brad will say yes to that or not. But that's what we're hoping to get a chance to explore in season two."

Despite audiences being left in the dark for now about Brad's feelings on the situation, Billie's husband's feelings are quite clear.

He was last seen staring furiously at his phone after the family's location app detected her at Brad's flat in Manhattan.

Speaking about the show's ending, Shahi told TVLine: "It's such a complex situation.

"I just hope that if we do get to season two, we can continue down the rabbit hole because it sure is messy to play. It's fun to play, and I think it's just incredibly real."

If Sex/Life is given the green light for a second series, fans can expect the new series to arrive by the summer of 2022 at the earliest. The main cast is expected to return.

Margaret Odette will likely return as Billie's best friend Sasha, alongside Jonathan Sadowski as Devon, Cooper's colleague and friend, Meghan Heffern as Caroline, Amber Goldfarb as Trina, Billie's frenemy, and Li Jun Li as Francesca, Cooper's boss who has feelings for him.
