'Bachelorette' Alum Kaitlyn Bristowe Says Shawn Booth Forgot Their Anniversary Before Split

Bachelor Nation wasn't prepared to learn of fan-favorite couple Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth's halted engagement on November 2, but maybe it was for the best. Bristowe shared how her former fiancé apparently forgot the couple's anniversary last year.

Bristowe opened up about her former relationship with Booth during an episode of her Off the Vine podcast, which featured fellow Bachelor Nation member Wells Adams. The episode was recorded in October, but it was released on Tuesday after Bristowe and Booth's split was revealed. The 33-year-old reality personality detailed how Booth managed to let their important day slip his mind. However, she appeared to give him a slight break since the date of their anniversary is somewhat confusing.

"We met and had our first date, but I was also dating multiple men," Bristowe said on Off the Vine. "So does that count as our anniversary? Or does our anniversary count as the time we got engaged?"

Bristowe continued, "He was like, 'To be fair, you had just dumped a guy five minutes before deciding, I guess, I'll pick this guy."

While she was sympathetic in part, Bristowe still acknowledged that his failure to remember the date of a significant moment in their relationship was unacceptable. In response to Booth's remark, she called saying: "'OK, at the end of the day, you forgot our anniversary. You're being a d**k right now. Just own that.'"

Bristowe met Booth during Season 11 of The Bachelorette. After Booth received Bristowe's final rose in the season's finale, the pair got engaged. They remained together for three years before calling it quits.

"After three incredible years, we have decided to go our separate ways," the ex-couple said in a joint statement to People. "This difficult decision comes after thoughtful, respectful consideration. Even though we are parting as a couple, we're very much committed to remaining friends and we will continue to support each other."

Bristowe and Booth further explained their desire to maintain privacy amid their split, adding: "Due to the nature of how we met, our relationship has always been very public, and we have enjoyed sharing it with all of you, but we ask that you respect our decision and our privacy at this time."

Before parting ways, the former couple faced breakup speculation in August. At the time, Bristowe shared a post via Instagram where she asked for fans to "love me for my insecurities and my hard days" while addressing her issues with "anxiety." Fans also noted she hadn't liked many of her now ex-fiancé's Instagram posts as well.

Bristowe reassured fans on her podcast that the ex-pair was "110 percent committed to each other" as they were in the midst of carrying out a long-distance relationship.

"I'm in Canada because every single year I have made a promise to myself and my family that I will come up every August and enjoy downtime with the people that I live in a country that I love," Bristowe explained in August. "Family is so important to me. Relationships, in general, are very important to me. I put relationships first. Shawn did not come up with me because the guy just bought a gym. He bought a business. He has started something huge."
