Shooting, Violence on Streets of L.A. After Rams Win Super Bowl

Chaos broke out on the streets of Los Angeles as crowds gathered in the streets to celebrate their team's Super Bowl victory.

One person was wounded in a shooting at an intersection following a celebration of the Los Angeles Rams' triumph over the Cincinnati Bengals at the SoFi Stadium on Sunday.

The shooting occurred at the intersection of Atlantic Boulevard and Whittier Boulevard in East Los Angeles at around 9:30 p.m., according to KABC.

The circumstances were not immediately clear, but the injured person was transported to hospital in an unknown condition.

Meanwhile, hundreds of fans took to the streets of downtown Los Angeles to celebrate the Rams' win.

Videos from the scene showing people dancing and chanting in celebration, but also captured unruly and destructive behavior.

Some people spray-painted a city bus, set off fireworks in the middle of an intersection and jumped on vehicles that were stuck in traffic in the area, according to reports and videos posted on social media.

Fireworks were also set off inside the vandalized bus, according to a tweet from Los Angeles Times reporter Kevin Rector.

"People got inside the bus and were setting off fireworks inside of it. It's smoking," Rector wrote in the tweet. "One guy just passed me holding his injured hand screaming 'f**k!' Police moved in on bikes with sirens blazing—and crowd ran off."

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) declared an unlawful assembly and issued a dispersal order in the area of 11th and Hope Street shortly after 9 p.m.

"The crowd is to disperse eastbound on 11th Street from Hope and southbound on Hope from 11th Street immediately," the LAPD tweeted.

In another tweet, the department added: "We ask those that are celebrating tonight, celebrate responsibly. Do not allow your actions to tarnish a great Super Bowl win. Obey all police orders and clear the streets around the area of 11th and Hope."

Some left immediately, but others taunted officers and threw glass bottles, according to the Los Angeles Times. Police fired projectiles at people as they fled the area.

Videos on social media showed many remained in the streets after police ordered them to disperse.

One video posted on Twitter showed people running out of a store after apparently breaking in to loot goods.

At one point, a large number of officers surrounded the intersection of 9th Street and Grand Avenue then "rushed ahead to move people east," according to a video posted by Rector.

Other videos showed officers roving around the downtown area on the sides of SUVs.

"We continue to see large, violent and destructive crowds, in the Downtown LA core area," the LAPD tweeted at around 11 p.m. "Those involved in criminal activity, and those failing to obey dispersal orders, are subject to arrest."
