Slack Status: Threads, Link Previews, Google Calendar Not Working

Slack users in offices across the country were experiencing issues using the messaging system on Tuesday.

A notice on Slack's status website said issues with the Google Calendar portion of the app started Tuesday morning and that they were working on solving it as soon as possible. The issue was caused by an "upstream problem," it said, and the company was monitoring the situation.

Additionally, users were experiencing problems with link previews and threads, the site said. These issues were identified around 1:15 p.m. EDT Tuesday. The status notice said that the team was aware of the issues and hoped to have them solved shortly.

During these issues, few reports appeared on the website Down Detector. However, users were tweeting at Slack to alert the company of the issues.

One user tweeted that they were having issues using Slackbot within the messaging platform, and the company said it was working to solve the problem.

Additionally, it wasn't only links that were failing to unfurl: Some users couldn't automatically see the GIFs they sent in the app without manually expanding them.

Another user said threads were "invisible" and not working or appearing in the system at all.

By 1:41 p.m. EDT, Slack tweeted that the issues with "message threads, unfurling, apps and integrations," should be solved for users and thanked everyone for their patience and understanding.

This post was updated to include specifics about the problems Slack was experiencing and when those issues were resolved.
