Olivier Giroud insists the Arsenal players are keen to see Arsène Wenger remain at the Emirates Stadium beyond the end of the season, according to reports.

Wenger, who has been at the north London club for 21 years, is widely believed to be in his final moments at the Arsenal helm, with many fans calling for him to leave.

But Giroud says the Arsenal players are keen to see Wenger stay, despite falling to sixth in the Premier League table and humiliatingly exiting from the Champions League this month.

"We want to see Arsène Wenger sign an extension," Giroud told French television channel Canal+. "To continue the adventure, because we support him.

"We hope to win the [FA] Cup and qualify Arsenal for the Champions League."

Arsenal fell to sixth in the Premier League on Saturday with defeat to West Brom, its fourth loss in five league games.

Wenger's team is now six points short of Liverpool, fourth in the table, and two off José Mourinho's Manchester United, which is fifth and overtook Arsenal with a win on Sunday.

Arsenal hosts Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium on April 2 after the international break.
