Chelsea will sign Spanish striker Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid for a fee reported to be around £75 million (about $98 million), subject to a medical.

The Premier League champion announced on Wednesday that it had come to an agreement with La Liga champion Real Madrid over the purchase of Morata.

Chelsea is currently on a pre-season tour in China ahead of the new Premier League season, where Morata is set to join up with his new teammates after undergoing the medical.

The 24-year-old has worked with Chelsea boss Antonio Conte already, having been in his squad at Juventus in 2014. Morata is known as a prolific goalscorer after netting 22 times in 47 appearances last season with Real Madrid.

He is strong in the air, possesses good pace and has considerable skill to ease past his marker. Take a look:

The signing of Morata comes just a day after Conte, the Italian coach who won the Premier League in his first season in English football, signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

"I'm going to the team managed by the coach who has placed the most faith in me, and that's great for me," Morata told Spanish newspaper AS .

Though, Morata hadn 't been Chelsea's first-choice signing this summer. Conte 's team had been in a battle to resign Romelu Lukaku from Everton , but the 24-year-old Belgian striker opted to sign with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

Chelsea's competitive season begins on August 6 when Conte faces Arsene Wenger again at Wembley Stadium, for the Community Shield.
