Antonio Conte looks set to miss out on £60 million ($79 million) target Kalidou Koulibaly as the defender is on the verge of signing a new contract at Napoli.

Chelsea was believed to be preparing a club record bid for the 25-year-old center-back as Conte desperately looks to improve his defense.

But, according to L'Equipe, Koulibaly will commit his future to Napoli, seeing him stay at the Italian club until 2021.

John Terry and Gary Cahill have started at the heart of Chelsea's defense for the opening two games of the Premier League season, while Kurt Zouma will return from injury in the new year.

Chelsea plays Bristol Rovers in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.
