Stoke City has made an enquiry about taking Liverpool outcast Mamadou Sakho to the Bet365 Stadium on loan, according to reports.

The French defender is out-of-favor at Anfield after a tumultuous pre-season campaign that saw Sakho sent home by Jurgen Klopp.

But Mark Hughes, the Stoke manager, sees Sakho as a possible figure to play at the heart of his defense and wants him to join on a season-long loan, according to the Daily Mail.

Premier League rivals Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion have also been linked to the 26-year-old defender. Stoke has already done business with Liverpool this summer, signing midfielder Joe Allen.

Sakho is yet to feature for Liverpool this season after Klopp brought Estonian center-back Ragnar Klavan to Anfield in the summer.

Klopp's side travel to White Hart Lane on Saturday to face Tottenham Hotspur.
