Liverpool has been wary of incoming bids for Brazilian Philippe Coutinho this summer, but in today's transfer round-up Jurgen Klopp's team is fending off offers for another midfielder.

The Anfield club has had a turbulent summer, securing the signing of Mohamed Salah but seemingly missing out on Naby Keita, and now it is protecting its current crop of players.

Elsewhere, Arsenal is also looking to ward off interest in its players, with Alexis Sanchez's future still unclear but two of the Gunners rivals showing an interest in a midfielder.

Newsweek takes a look at all the news and rumors in the Premier League today:

Liverpool is looking to wrap up a new deal for midfielder Emre Can as the German heads in the final year of his contract at Anfield. According to the Liverpool Echo, Klopp says the two parties have had "good talks."

But the Daily Mail says Italian Serie A giant Juventus has made Can one of its top priorities for signing, and is preparing an offer between £27 million and £31 million.

After seeing its £66 million offer for RB Leipzig midfielder Keita rejected, Liverpool will end its pursuit of the 22-year-old and return next year when his release clause will be £48 million, the Daily Telegraph says.

Chelsea will increase its efforts to sign Alex Oxlade Chamberlain from Arsenal this summer, according to the Daily Express. The 23-year-old midfielder could be worth up to £50 million, but Antonio Conte's team faces competition from Manchester City for the Englishman.

Arsene Wenger, meanwhile, insists Sanchez will not be sold this summer despite heading into the final year of his contract at Arsenal. But the Daily Telegraph say the Frenchman fears his Chilean forward has been tapped up by rival clubs.

Swansea could re-sign Wilfried Bony from Manchester City this summer, according to Wales Online. The Ivorian striker was sold to City in 2015 for £28 million but has struggled to impress at the Etihad Stadium and is not in Pep Guardiola's plans.

Lastly, the bargain of the summer could be available at the Etihad Stadium during this transfer window. Samir Nasri is on Manchester City's preseason tour of the United States but The Times say the Frenchman has been shunned by his teammates and City has dropped its asking price to £10 million for the midfielder.
