As the weather hots up, so too it seems do the transfer market's rumors.

Premier League champion Chelsea is heavily involved in today's roundup, with plenty of possible outgoings plus the club looks close to making its first signing of the summer.

The noises from the Emirates Stadium have gone quiet today, while Liverpool also looks set to confirm its first signing of the window. Here, Newsweek guides you through all the news, rumors and whispers of the day:

Liverpool will complete the signing of £39 million forward Mohamed Salah from Roma on Thursday as the former Chelsea player joins Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, according to The Times.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is a target for newly promoted Newcastle United, and Rafael Benitez is being kept informed about his ongoing contract situation at Napoli, according to the Northern Echo.

The former Chelsea captain John Terry, 36, who left the club at the end of last season, is prepared to drop into the Championship to continue playing, according to the Daily Mirror. He has had offers from Aston Villa and Birmingham. The Sun says that Steve Bruce's Villa is leading the race for Terry, a former England captain.

Premier League champion Chelsea is close to making its first major signing of the summer, according to the Daily Mail. Antonio Conte's team has been pursuing Monaco's 22-year-old midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko throughout the summer, and a £35 million offer could wrap up the deal.

That deal would also pave the way for Jose Mourinho to sign midfielder Nemanja Matic to Manchester United from Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail.

Manchester City's desire to buy Kyle Walker from Tottenham Hotspur will not end if the club signs Dani Alves, 34, from Juventus, according to The Independent. But Tottenham is unwilling to drop its £50 million asking price for defender Walker, which will see the negotiations drag into next week.

Manchester United and Chelsea were among the clubs believed to be battling for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski after his agent said he was "unhappy" at the Allianz Arena. But the Manchester Evening News says Bayern has told potential suitors that they can forget the prospect of signing the prolific striker this summer.

Leicester City, the 2016 Premier League champion, is planning a £25 million offer for 20-year-old Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho, according to The Daily Telegraph. Craig Shakespeare's team is also considering whether to double its £10 million bid for West Brom defender Jonny Evans, 29, the Leicester Mercury says.

Juventus full-back Alex Sandro will need to ask to leave the Italian club if he is to move to Chelsea this summer, the Daily Mail says. The 26-year-old has been linked with a £45 million move to Stamford Bridge.
