'Staycation': Memphis Home Has First-Class Delta Airline Experience Inside

People are equally intrigued and confused by an ordinary family home in Tennessee which has a first-class Delta airport lounge inside.

Questions over the décor in the six-bedroom home, on Hickory Forest Drive in Memphis, have soared after snaps of the unusual furniture were shared online.

Zillow Gone Wild posted interior shots of the $589,000 house to their social media pages, seeing people field numerous jokes about staycations and airmiles.

House-hunters are greeted by two first-class seats from the airline, stationed in front of a Delta rug, which are flanked by two food trolleys.

Giant signs inform passengers, or residents, they're in the Sky Priority zone, while listing the various airline memberships on offer. While others signs simply proclaim "welcome to Memphis."

The home is listed by Brian Lurie of Crye-Leike realtors, who told Newsweek: "The homeowners just want everyone to have a first class experience in their home!

"It was quite unique, and when I went over to the house my initial thought was to have them move that out and stage the room.

"After thinking about it, I decided I was good with it and hopefully it would bring some character and conversation, which it certainly has!"

He added he also found an overhead bin from a plane in one of the closets.

Delta's first-class is known as its Sky Priority service, claiming the seats are larger than economy, with the airline saying: "Stretch out with up to 8 inches extra legroom compared to a Main Cabin seat, and up to a 5.4-inch recline."

A spokesperson for Delta confirmed the seats are examples of the first version of the airline's BusinessElite model, and feature their first seat covers, which were introduced in December 1998 on Boeing 767-3300ER, Boeing 777-200ER and McDonnell Douglas MD-11 aircraft.

These fabric-and-leather seat covers were replaced with all-leather versions in 2008.

The house listing, which can be seen here, alludes to the unusual set up while boasting about the home's other features, saying: "NO! You are awake. You are not dreaming. No need to pinch yourself! This home has it all! 1st class all the way!"

Zillow Gone Wild shared the post to their Twitter page on Wednesday, captioned: "If your home doesn't have a vintage first class seating section then don't invite me over."

But it was their Instagram post, also shared on Wednesday, which amassed more than 30,000 likes, as Homeownermemes quipped: "Can I buy this house using SkyMiles?"

Maureen_feeney said: "There's just so many questions about how this feature came to be."

Tamzanmiller joked: "This is how Delta flight attendants work from home!"

T.h.brown commented: "You are now free to move about your living room."

Howardboutthat thought: "Perfect for a work from home work trip."

Gregdanfordphotography remarked: "At least they're not coach seats."

While Nickelbecker44 added: "Staycation to a whole new level."

The home, built in 1977, also has three bathrooms, a fireplace and a garage set amongst 3,800 square feet.

The listing continues: "Three bedrooms down. Three bedrooms and play rooms up! So much room and closet space! You will really be astonished! Super good looking hardwood, amazing kitchen and living spaces.

"Just sit back and relax outside by this INCREDIBLE backyard setting with this beautiful pool! So close to all kinds of dining, shopping and entertainment."

A spokesperson for Delta told Newsweek: "While Delta SkyMiles Members can use their miles to purchase many things, including flights, Delta Gift Cards and upgrades to Delta One seats onboard a flight, a home equipped with our classic BusinessElite seats? That's an offering we've not added."

According to Zillow, the average price for a home in Memphis is $142,725, which has shot up 22 percent over the last year. In 2021, it was $116,000, while in 2020 the average price was $101,000.
