Stephen Curry Injury Update: Steve Kerr Reveals Possible Return Date for Two-time MVP

Steve Kerr believes the Golden State Warriors could have Stephen Curry back as soon as this Saturday when they travel to Detroit.

The two-time MVP has not played since suffering an adductor strain in his left leg in the Warriors' home game against the Milwaukee Bucks on November 8 as he tried to block a move from Bucks' guard Eric Bledsoe.

He left the court with just over six minutes left in the third quarter and did not return as the Warriors lost 134-111.

Speaking to Bay Area's sports station 95.7 The Game on Tuesday, Kerr said he was hopeful Curry would return against the Pistons.

"My best guess is Detroit," he told host Damon Bruce.

Before his injury, the 30-year-old was averaging 29.5 points, 5 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game, while shooting 51.1 percent from the field and 49.2 percent from beyond the arc. On Friday, Curry was involved in a three-car crash while driving westbound on Highway 24 but walked away unscathed.

The point guard was hit twice just before 9 a.m. on the Oakland side of the Caldecott Tunnel.

The Warriors won two of their first three games without Curry but then lost four in a row, the first time they have suffered such a lengthy losing streak in Kerr's four-year tenure as head coach.

Golden State, however, rebounded immediately and is now on a three-game winning run, after beating the Orlando Magic 116-110 on Tuesday. The win improved their record to 15-7, putting the defending champions second in the Western Conference behind the Los Angeles Clippers.

Curry's absence, however, continues to be felt as the Warriors' offensive rating drops to 114.2 when the three-time NBA champion is not on the court, as opposed to 124.4 when he's playing,

The Warriors now face a five-game road trip, which begins on Thursday in Toronto. The Raptors have won their last six games and their 18-4 record is the best in the NBA so far.

Golden State then travels to Detroit on Saturday, to take on the Pistons, who are currently ranked fifth in the Eastern Conference with an 11-7 record. The road trip then gets easier for the Warriors, who face back-to-back games against the Atlanta Hawks and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Hawks are second last in the East with a 5-16 record, just ahead of the Cavaliers, who have won four of their 19 games so far.

Golden State road trip ends on December 8 with a matchup against the Bucks in Milwaukee. The Warriors have lost their first meeting of the season against the Bucks earlier this month and will be looking to avenge the defeat against a team that currently boasts the second-best record in the Eastern Conference.
