Stephen King's Donald Trump 'Strategy' Remark Goes Viral

Stephen King has once again shared his thoughts on Donald Trump, taking the opportunity to criticize the former president.

Trump has been in various headlines this week, as he faces 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. The trial is due to start on Monday, April 15.

Despite Trump denying the allegations made against him, King has claimed that the former president is a liar.

Newsweek emailed spokespeople for King and Trump for comment Thursday.

"The Trump strategy is time-honored: lie, deny, and hope they die," the critically acclaimed author wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

At the time of writing his post had been viewed 396,200 times and had received more than 2,000 comments.

King's comments on social media are often divisive, and social media users have responded to the post to express their disagreement.

"Dems strategy: accuse Trump of lying and corruption, then vote for Biden, a proven pathological liar in serious cognitive decline who has been corrupt for 50 years," one person wrote.

"What's the open border strategy? Why do you never discuss what Biden does? It's just Trump Trump Trump with you. You're terrible at this," said another.

A third added: "Take a day off man."

Others said the author's post could be applied to any politician, not exclusively Trump.

"You realize that could be any politician, right?" someone else commented.

"This is basically the strategy of both parties so let's be honest about that," said another.

And some X users threw their support behind King, with one person commenting alongside the "100" emoji: "agree. But law is law right?"

King often talks about the former president and in fact, this isn't the first time the author has posted about Trump on social media this week.

Trump has sought to delay the hush money case involving Daniels, but these efforts have thus far been unsuccessful. In Trump's latest delaying bid on Wednesday, his lawyers motioned to push back the trial while an appeals court considers New York State Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan's rulings that struck down previous requests to postpone the case. The motion was dismissed by Associate Justice Ellen Gesmer.

On Tuesday a judge rejected Trump's attempt to delay his upcoming trial and on Monday, another effort at delaying the case was shot down by Judge Lizbeth Gonzalez.

King previously weighed in on the rulings on X, writing: "Donald Trump is finding out that although the wheels of justice may grind slow, they also grind exceedingly fine. Do the crime, do the time."

At the time of writing, it had been viewed 847,900 times and had over 4,000 comments.

In total, Trump has been charged with four criminal counts. Aside from the charges involving Daniels, the three other criminal indictments are: an alleged mishandling of sensitive documents in Florida and two alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election results, one federal and one in Georgia. Trump denies wrongdoing on all counts and says he is the target of a political witch hunt.

King has previously said that he joined the Democratic Party in 1970, and he has been an outspoken critic of the former president since before Trump was elected in 2016.

On May 24, 2016, King was one of 450 writers to sign an open letter opposing Trump's candidacy, with the author supporting Hillary Clinton's campaign.
